Dunstan chestnut are 99%American and 1 % chineese, this makes them blight proof but also causes the tall woodland American shape to become more of an orchard tree, I have several Dunstan and if you can find them are a good food source in a more open area, the nys chapter has genetically modified an embreo to still be 100% American but be blight proof,this is imo a much better option,as it can take over the woods as a dominant tree again (1 of every 4 trees you see in the woods were chestnut in the late 1800's) although man get the blame for shooting off the passenger pigeons the loss of this food source to blight and clear cutting was a much bigger factor.

Yeah I am a pretty agressive hunter and I know my area very well and can get on a rooted bird pretty easily . It's moving thru the woods interested dark i worry about I don't use a flash light and like to get in close 50 yards or so .. hard to do with a nephew ,and if she's like her mom can't see in the dark at all..

Well my nephew is distracted by those a aluring females so not sure he will be hunting, but a friend asked if I would take her daughter... I grew up in a house of boys and only have nephews.. not sure if I should push her as hard as I do my nephew ( hiking to areas ,ect) girls are tough right? I want her to really enjoy it but one day to hunt for her I dont know if pushing her hard 1- 2 mile walk in dark to best area will Taint her. Any advise?

My old school.mascot was recently voted out by a school.board as being racist after 68 years. The residents were by passed in any decision making process. those that want the change claim it is racist and is always racist! Those that want to keep.it point out it has never been used as a slur or in a derogatory way and is in fact always associated with the local scholastic and sports teams. And has only.been loved cherished and many have said it instills the value of pride tradition and excellence. I have spoken to some native American I know and they do not think it is racist.I have tried to.hear why it is racist from the group.led.by mr Kane and there response is that it is and always is. many things offend many people.for.different reasons, but to make a word only be racist is like saying guns kill people to me. I understand a name.is a just a name, as grandpa use to say sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me.

Have over 2 dozen chestnut planted and they are further reseeding themselves. My 2 largest are dying from.blight but have reached 12 in in diameter in 15 years and have produced for over 10, they were considered a weed tree because they grow anywhere and grow fast.

I agree doc ,but until we have an amendment to allow hunting and establish a game commission to control and regulate ,there will never be enough staff to do properly, this leads to what joe said you have to police yourself and your own hunting area. Can be hard to do if your in a high population area as you will not get enough tags to kill enough yourself, now you have to allow more hunters onto your land you pay taxes on to lower numbers... many will not do this and the problem goes on and on....

And I've said it before if bowhunters killed more doe rather than waiting for a buck, crossbow would never have been considered, dec wants population control not quality control. That is why the push for doe only in areas..if a guy only eats 1 or 2 deer a year he will wait for a buck for sure.. perhaps they should just go to an ean a buck tag in those areas and watch doe take increase dramatically

I've seen deer move a week or.more ahead of gun opening, but it's from the large influx of weekend warriors ,lighting up.campstoves,running atvs to check and hang stands, their scouting a week before season,slamming car and truck doors and cabin doors from comings and going running into town for a drink or materials to fix or repair something at camp. Let alone the re sighting of guns the weekend before the season not to.mention chainsaws and splitters getting camp ready. Deer aren't dumb living on the land your going to hunt and hearing nothing for months before season and then bam. A circus.moves into town..... that is the main reason deer vacate, the youth hunt is a minute number of participants and effect is minor when compared to hundreds or thousands of camps being opened weekend before season.

We average 18 plus deer off 200 acres every year with a target of 10 mature doe. We have done this since 93, certain places produce and some don't ,habitat and terrain is key.380 plus deer that's a lot of meat!

Depends on size of 12 volt pump, I have one that will push a large volume of water and that mat be to fast for a tank less heater. A slower flow (volume) will heat faster and hotter than a high flow and volume, the heater you choose should have info for pressures in installation instructions. a pressure shut off switch may be needed as will be a regulator,
