  1. Not a fan of snow, rather just have cold and crunchy. This warm and muddy sucks, but i'm still out in it and will be no matter what the weather is. Of course my pocket book likes this warm weather, though i`m sure the gas company doesn't.
  2. I miss people just being nice to each other... never had to worry if you had a flat. now you might get mugged while changing a tire if any stops at all. I miss the community/neighbors working together instead of the "me,mine" attitude.
  3. Some farmers by me who have had big coyote problems put a bounty on coyotes, paying 60$ for everyone shot on their farm. not to menion the $ they get for the hide on top of it. got 37 coyotes shot off their farms in a week... money well spent they said! boars will end up the same way...
  4. oh no grammar police on patrol... ease off...
  5. I've only hunted pheasant: there but would expect deer to be there still close to no hunting areas and surrounding private land, same areas ;as the pheasants end up.
  6. You have to keep the grass back from the tunk regardless of mesh(they will go under it), voles are aweful. it will take 4-5 bridges to save a 2-3in diam tree, if it wasn't chewed below the root graft you can hope for a sucker to grow and become a main leader as well. get some pruning spray/pruning wax on the girdle so it doesnt dry out and crack over winter. so early spring you can attempt your bridge graft.

    Done yet?

Muzzleloader, cva kentucky long rifle 50 cal ,round ball. and 50 cal kentucky pistol with round ball.
  8. Late muzzleloader is when we fill doe tags(still manage to get a buck or two) to reach our goal of 10 off the property a year. Thankfull so many people only hunt the first week and weekends that the deer return to simple feed /bed patterns by muzzleloader and hunting is easy. most shots are under 50 yards anyway. the only weay to improve hunting and take would be to have split seasons here 2 weeks bow /close 2 weeks. 7 day gun close 2 weeks , 5 day gun close two weeks, week for late bow muzzleloader... hunter numbers drop so fast after opening day deer can lay and not move till late as they are undedisturberd. so get a muzzleloader get out and have fun!
  9. The gun will out shoot the hunter, most people can make 150-200 yard shots with a scope and a rest. i'm quite happy with 100yards off hand and zero my gun at 75.
  10. I would take the savage over the "remlin" at this point. Since marlin was bought out by remington the overall quality has gone down. Unless you find an orignial marlin serial will start with m, new remlins start with rm. Just my opinion. But savage still has top quality going for it.
  11. i go when there is ice and its thick enough..hasen't happen to often here lately..cuba, harwood, case, a few private ponds as well.
  12. 11 coon, 1 red so far, will get back at it after muzzlelodaer season is over. should of had a few more, but was having a problem with a bear taking animals from traps, and lost 2 traps to it as well(carried off somewhere i assume still looking for em')
  13. yes, it can be done, best if you can find some grafting wax i've had best luck using it, from mice or deer rubbing?
  14. Definitely helps on my sidelocks, not sure if you would want to use them on an inline
  15. I can shoot my knight mk 85 to 75 yards comfortable 100 with a good rest, 12 in barrel. The Kentucky to about 50 same with hawkin. 8in barrels
  16. http://www.cabelas.com/catalog/search.cmd?form_state=searchForm&N=0&fsch=true&Ntk=AllProducts&Ntt=traditions+pistol&WTz_l=Header%3BSearch-All+Products&x=18&y=6 don't over look the traditions, and kit guns as well, always feel better taking game with something you made!!
  17. Yes they are have taken several deer with each, just make sure to register them on your pistol permit if you have one, or when you get one(you can buy it without a permit, i have a couple of blk powder revolvers i would really like to use .44 colt army, and a 36 cal navy, but always forget to grab em for regular season(illegal in late season). i have taken wild boar with my knight mk85 and that was awesome... canned hunt but "guide" couldn't believe how fast it dropped from a 50 cal pistol...lol
  18. i have a cva kentucky pistol .50 cal. a traditions flintlock hawken in 50 cal, a knight mk85 in 50 cal (inline). the kentucky was a kit gun. paid 50$ for it at a yardsale believe they still sell then for about 125$
  19. As for the weight, i can carry 2 pistols and be lighter and more manuerable with them especially on snowshoes, leave my arms free for the ski poles i use on steep slopes, a rifle and pistol are good when just sitting, close shot use pistol, far shot rifle. don't be hate ing cause i own more than one and like to use them..... lol! Ever miss due to a unseen limb? and wish you could get a second shot and while reloading the buck of a lifetime runs away? i did once... it happend again and bang! second shot got it! no reloading required. its legal to do, it doesn't say you have to carry only one.and its nice to come back having your deer with only one being fired! As for i only need 1 shot crowd i hope you bow hunt and only take 1 arrow with you...its the same thing isn't it?
  20. Yes i have custom holsters for my blackpowder pistols. ,no to your regular rifle for coyote, single shot muzzleloaders only
  21. That would be fun, but i don't have a crossbow(not sure if thats legal to carry both ) but i have 11 muzzleloaders including pistols, and shotguns.
  22. Its going to be a walking mount, yes you need to find a good taxidermist that has done bear and knows how to do them properly. 2 biologists came to examine it from region 9. Estimated it at 400 lbs and 5 plus years(need to wait for tooth to be accurate. Had to take it to weigh station for trucks at scrap yard as biggest scale i could find only went to 350 weight (and those scales are accurate they don't like to pay for stuff that isn't there) was 408.
  23. I shoot just about every day, bow, gun or pistol. benifit of having my own 200rd range right out my door. more people need to shoot more often... see way to many people that don't know why/how they missed.. I always make anyone i hunt with on my property come out before the season and shoot.if they do't do it they don't hunt! its that simple!
