  1. LOL you got this to post....
  2. what are you looking to plant? clover, corn, soybean, oats?? everthing is a little different
  3. i have been given cameras that friends say don't work because of slow trigger speed, the set up is more important, on a trail do not put it on a 90% angle to it the deer will walk by and trigger late or not at all, use a 30 or 40% looking down or up the trail. cameras with slow triggers are great on scrapes, if placing on a food plot place in plot looking at trails entering(the deer will hold at edge of plot before entering) a large plot will let the deer get out of range to fast for a lot of inexpensive ir's so facing the trails entering helps a lot.. just a few things i learned over the years.
  4. ssi is so twisted from what it was started for supplimental income for war widows.... fact is nothing will change as long as we have career politions they are the root cause behind everthing why should they care about the laws they create if not subject to them?. and yes its our fault for keep voting them in...
  5. For the about same price you can get a combiination spreader for that will also spread lime (if you plan on doing more plots eventually you will need it. A 1600 is about 20hp on drawbar. it will do a most of your work though larger trees stumps will require some digging and root chopping. the others just make sure to leave them high so they can lever out.. when buying equipment for your tractor keep in mind it is under 30 hp as most equipment is rated for over or under that.
  6. I've driven by hanging bog and cranberry hollow after opening weekend i'm lucky to see another car. The place has turkeys, just noone seems to hunt them after opening weekend. 7000 acres or so. not that its easy walking in some areas it is called hanging bog
  7. 9mm are out for state police went to 45cal glocks. knockdown power!!
  8. Yep big bucks are ok but the strange/unusuall is what sticks/stimulates in the mind.
  9. One can only dream....
  10. federal mandated rest....10 hrs off turns into 20 + when the trains don't run on time... can't use electronic equipment on trains..another federal mandate.... so here i am
  11. sorry for all the questions pat sitting in hotel bored and loking for the article...
  12. I left over 10 acres of corn standing for the deer this year and the field is empty since middle of feb... still need to get thru march, deer look good but they must be nutritionally stressed, lot of ice snow pack to get thru and even our two little melt downs didn't help as it snow immediately following the melt, all but south facing slopes have a least a foot or more left. Even if deer don't starve they will be in such a stressed state antler growth and fawn reuitment will suffer.
  13. I use steelforce with my 70 lbs bow for larger game and rage 2blade on my 55lb bow for deer
  14. The economy will crash again.... and a lot of hunters won't be driving to camp for a quick hunt..
  15. Truth is there are enough laws for everything already just enforce them!!

  17. When i started bowhunting in the 80's i took a shot at a spike that was facing me 10 yards away,i was on the ground, the arrow struck it between the neck and shoulder. the full 27" shaft and broadhead dissappered into th e deer.I looked and looked and never found the deer figured it had to die. A year later + gun season a friend shot the ugliest 4 pt horns were all twisted and gnarly. when he was butchering it he found the complete xx75 2013 my arrow!! including the broadhead incased in a sac lying ontop of the ribs along the spine. ...amazing and i will never take a shot like that again!
  18. The thing is deer will bed near to food if the cover/habitat allows. resulting in less movement. Most feeders are put up where it is east to see deer. Although i can see some people wanting to bait during season, supplemental feeding is a bad thing. And just about everything can be considered bait if it is consumed by the prey species. A big difference is timed feeders only dispence at a given time where a food plot is open round the clock in an area of high pressure a food plot will only be visited at night. Pt i guess you are the voice trying to leagalize baiting in nys during the season. And i do believe there is a lot of baiting going on wether legal or not....
  19. A rear blade is a grader blade that is attached to the 3 pt hitch on the rear of a tractor. It can be used to grade soil, push brush, stone, rocks, snow ect. It is adjustable in angle. A york rake is also adjustable but its blade is made up of springs space about 3/4 in apart. It is used to remove larger stone, sticks ect from the worked soil as smaller partcle will go thru and the large are caught. Also useful for grading out a stone driveway or removing leaves off a trail to your stand.... I do like and use imperial whitail products I really hope it will work for you it didn't for me but I have a large deer population. You can try tractor supply or northern tool to find rear blades ond york rakes as well as auctions used equipment listings. There are a lot of other pieces of equipmet you will want brushhogs for mowing trails and maintaining food plots, broadcaster for seeding sperading lime and fertilizer. Ect ect. The most important thing is to get the proper size for your hp tractor. What kind of tractor do you have? You will find you can do so much more with a tractor than an atv or utv they have the weight and gearing to get things done! As for size of stumps depends on tree type and hp of tractor. I like to leave my stumps 3 ft and attach the chain to the top(use a good hardend high stregnth chain and lever them out. My 35hp tractor can do most 8to10 in trees this way bigger stumps might take a little digging and chopping a root or two to get them out but it can be done. Northern tool has a brush grubber for pulling smaller stuff(a big set of pincers on a chain) that a friend bought and liknes to use.
  20. If you have a tractor you should be able to clear most everything you need with that. You could hire a dozer at least 60 an hour or more with gas prices going up. For that price you could buy a rear blade and york rake. Leaving stumps high let's you tear them out with a chain. With a high population of deer it will be tough to keep deer out, I had a big population and tried hanging bars of scented soap around plots human hair, scarecrows and a bug zapper with a short that would just snap intermittently. Finally just had to reduce the herd and plant more. I tried powerplant 2 years ago as did a friend of mine. Was not happy with results this was on good ph and well fertalized plot I see its more advertized as a southern planting now.. if you want a 2 season plot buckwheat followed by turnips would be good. Glad to hear u have a tractor rather than an atv...they are made for this kind of stuff!
  21. punch em thru the lungs, shoulder shots ruin meat! just think of a muzzleloader as a long renge bow! I learned the hard way round balls that flatten out to 50cent size thru the shoulders now a nice simple entrance in and out thru the ribs=dead deer and good meat!
  22. Was looking thru other forums and have to share this link! http://www.broadheadtalk.com/general-broadhead-discussion/160-broadhead-effects-when-they-meet-bone.html
