Everyone always says just issue more tags ,i see this all the time,by adding an antlerless season in certain areas they are hinestly.trying to lower populations there (opening vlosed areas around buffalo for example) if populations keep rising in high.permit areas i could see an earn a buck policy go into effect , maybe 2 doe to get a buck tag in those areas.. they are trying to manage the herd but extra doe tags are not cutting it.. imagine a 2 doe earn a buck tag draw for archery at tiff farm or knox estate. Guys would line up by the 1000s

That would allow them to make a archery course nessary for it and allow full inclusion as most hunters want.

Im most excited that the dec want to take control of crossbow and put it in and classify it as archery equipment , ending the polittical lobbing of nybh.

I understand this in Niagara and Erie counties for sure. Be nice to take bunch of deer in sept there when they are in moms back yard eating apples

I have one on a .308 it works need a quick cheap scope.for nephew youth season. Doesnt compare to my leupolds but wasnt 1200 dollars either. 50mm lens works well to sunset. Doesnt gather light well and i like lower magnification as i like to shoot deer 50 yards and under ,but 99 bucks with rings and he likes it especially the lighted cross hairs. Only put about 20 rounds thru gun with it in but hold it zero. Only been on 1 year so thats all i can say at this time. I will prolly repace it with a leupold at some point just for light gathering abilities.

94 acres with proper habitat management and hunting it properly ( wisely) you would be able to take deer off it every year. . Habitat and entrance exit to stands is very important. Most inportantnby far is creating a sanctuary on that property as thick and nasty as possibly and then stay out of it except in late winter when you can do maintenance work an shed hunt. 25 acres out of 90 would be so effective. Its not about food plots in ny its about cover. Especially undisturbed cover.

There still can be full inclusion of crossbow as well...... but if you actually read ,it needs to pass and then funds to put into regulation booklet,or notices to get out that its happening, nys is broke, so i would say future means next year. As the alternative clearly states. And as abbigious as its written and 90 day comment period just ended i have never seen nys make a chagne during the season. It would be like cancelling gun season after this weekend they "could " do that as well. But many would still be out hunting and its why all changes are usually made before new syllabus is printed.

I enjoy the habitat manipulation, i have no restrictions persay , a couple of rules ,i try and keep it fun. Shot alot of deer myself well over 100 now and its kind of lost its appeal but watching others get excited excites me. If i didnt get that satisfaction from others id prolly hunt / work on property much less for sure.

I agree, i killed a buck i knew was at least 7.5 or 8.5 i killed it in 2000 and had sheds going back to 93. At that time it was a big buck , guy told me.3.5 and i pulled out shed from 94 and he said oh you found his shed last year i said no that was spring of 94.. he looked confused. I took tooth to friend at museum who thin section it and count rings like they do for bear and he came up with 8.5

Have a friend that hasnt seen a deer on property they hunt just up the road, in almost 2 weeks so he asked if he could come and hunt this afternoon with his camp ( 6 guys i know them.all 3 sons 2 fathers and a grand father.) I let them keep a couple of trailer on my place all year but the hunt at friends up the road a bit . well the kids ( 20 year olds) all connected .a sub legal spike, a spike and a button. A very happy camp now. Brings my place running total to 9 buck and 3 doe so far.. need 6 or 8 more to hit yearly average.

There is big price difference between providers call several and have them give you prices for lock in and normal.

Said no for 1st time ever when my brother wanted to bring his sons friend and father down day after thanksgiving , i never met the guy and not sure who or what the guy and kid are doing for thanksgiving get together. Who will be there and how many, no time for incubation period so could be carring and not know it. I dont need that brought into my house. ( camp is walk on basement) the guys that have been hunting here are retired or have to get tested for work every day. Or i trust them enought to be pretty safe.

Yes dmp were either sex ,hard to come by back then but my fathers friend would routinely take 3 buck in gun as he had buck tag and 2 dmp.. he always filled dmp with bucks.. use to piss me off when i heard about it every year. Glad they changed it.

Yes recommended stand and yep but mr j going under knife for new knee, said next year hes back to walking back to the gun stands instead of staying around house. For his sake i hope he can the 1st knee went very well. So fingers crossed

Oldest hunter in camp 72 last day he could hunt before knee replacement , shot his spike and doe together ( doe is under jay in his truck)

My Freezer is full from bow. I just run camp, camp cook, deer retreival for gunseason. Honeslty more fun to see other get them at this point in my life.

Slept in everyone gone home till Wednesday just me next 2 days and my freezer is full from.archery. will head out later and seek out new neighbor who had someone walking thru my place yesterday a freind caught and sent on his way. After he promised they would be on their place( he bought 10 acres 9.6 acres is field and have 4 guys hunting.) Guy was in his bix blind rattling andngrunting all day yesterday smh.. well time to be an a$$hole,

My place opining day is typically slow, the bigger bucks are usually taken mondays and tuesdays. Just a factor of bucks heading for security cover after hiding opening day weekend, the buck jay got was on a beeline to a 30 acre piece we leave as a sanctuary and do not enter except every few uears in winter to drop trees to keep it thick and nasty. Deer know they are safe there. In actuallity jay sbuck needed to go 100 yards more and would of been safe...

Opening day had 4 guys miss 2 buck and 2 doe, today has one guy shoot his buck and doe, another a button ad another a very good 8pt . Including archery that is 6 buck and 3 doe off the land this year or about half our yearly average, lots of good buck left i have had on camera so lots of hunting.left to do.
