  1. It wouldnt make it this year as would need to be in syllabus, the offical release states future i havent seen any referance to this year except fot the comment period this year.https://www.dec.ny.gov/press/121333.html#:~:text=The New York State Department,26 through Jan.
  2. Its for next year ,proposed future hunt..not this year, comments were taken this year
  3. If it did it wouldnt be till next year 2021 anyway.. as of now the snow outlook is not good and trails wont be open til febuary at this rate..
  4. The only round im low on is 30 30 and that 1 and a half boxes after i sold 10 rounds to a freind for his friend. My primary gun i have 10 boxes and enough to reload 7 more. Most of my other calibers i have between 5 and 7 boxes..as well as capacity to reload more
  5. I have a 30.30 , was sent back and they did trigger job on ot as well at no expense as compensation for the recall,. Its 1.5lbs pull now was a bit heavy before , ive taken a buck with it as has my nephew and a doe by my youngest nephew this youth hunt the last was at 95 yards.. I really like the gun works well and carried very well in the field. A hammer extension is needed with scope. Id reccomend it to anyone, and customer service was top notch. My youngest nephew will be using this gun for Saturday opening day and for the season.
  6. 1st year hunting was open in nys after being closed for decades

  8. There are a few families not to mention Amish families in town that are gonna have to kick a few kids out of their house to comply with this.
  9. Jumped a nice buck bedded behind the cornfield while checking traps, checked a few cameras along the line and deer track say they are hanging around.. one hunter in camp this afternoon. Hope he tags a big one, deer seemed to be focused on food today corn, clover and apples.

    Dmp tags.

What are odds fornout of state hunter in your wmu?
  11. Seems the timber company is one you need to contact if you need to since it is to much for you to do. They may want to recover lumber from siad tree, and i doubt lease holders have permission to cut timber. Either way a phone call wouldnt hurt. Amd may avoid trouble with neighvors at all, if not find a local with a saw and cut a chunk out of middle and winch/push it out of the way.

    Dmp tags.

Wow it crazy the number of dmps goven out this year, everyone that was turned down initially i know got a letter giving them one , eveyone in camp now has one ( this is in a low to zero chance for second permit area) normal year 4 to 6 tags in camp out of 10 people , this year 10 for ten including one that got 2!! Yes two for thsi low chance area with no chance for second!! So i figured system is screwed up , but then i started Thinking, perhaps they have released more trying to possible escape the effects of ehd downstate here. Another though was they released more expecting a shutdown with covid and are giving a chance for meat to as many as possible. Anyone else see the same thing in wmu you hunt in? Just doesnt make sense to me unless this is reason ,or new system is so scred up its out to wipe out the herd
  13. Id be looking for a creek crossing and mast along ridge, hay fields are nice to see deer in summer but once they feel pressure they wont go ouy until they feel safe. , A nice creek crossing with thick cover would be my main set.up, access into and out of stand site is very important, the more undetected you are the better. Even walking in and up the creek to the stand maybe best route. There seem to be a lot of properties boardering where you hunt, their pressure also comes into play.on stand location and deer movement
  14. That was a crazy ending...
  15. Heavy trails are not the place to hunt imo, usually made in spring and summer and early fall at night . as cover dissappears deer tend to move further back into heavier thickets and will arrive at fields at last light unless the heavy thicket is directly attached to the field.. i get more deer by hearing them than by seeing them and many times the furthest shot is 35 yards or less. Find a cover brake like brush and hardwoods ,or hardwoods and softwoods , or even a greater combination of 3 ir more cover types , find the downwind side of the cover and hunt it , you will hear many more deer coming and possibly see them for a shot ,than you will sitting on a field or in a open hardwoods.
  16. Prolly.not a bedding area but cuts off deer movement to his property. If you can get in and hunt it with iut spooking deer then hunt it.
  17. Cool cut freeze, can age when you thaw in fridge if you want
  18. Thanks for sll the b day wishes! Not enough likes....
  19. There are quite a few people that buy land cheap inntax auction, log it , divide it and sell making tens of thousands in profits. And dont be afraid of asking price, doesnt mean thats what you will pay.
  20. I actually use to catch them with #2 double coils on a slide wire , with nuisance permit just cut hole in damn set trap, they will be there in 30 min . Slide down wire and drowned..
  21. Check tax auctions, local.papers, and drive around many just have sale by owner signs on.as realitors take a good chunk ,lot of people just want to sell themselves
  22. Congrats!! Remorse is the hardest thing to deal with but as general lee once said, the hardest thing is ordering the death of the thing you love.( he of couse was refering to his army) but same can be said when you work the land and grow the game and then decide to take an animal you have watched and nurtured, its a deep connection one not to be taken lightly. If one doesnt feel it then i would question their values and morals.
  23. As a typical 120. Nontypical 150s
