nyantler
I am going to buy a huge 64 oz cup so that when I go to NYC I can buy small drinks, pour them in the huge cup and walk around the city. Hopefully Bloomberg will see me and wonder where the hell I bought it..lol Oh no! Maybe I could get fined for owning a big cup..!!
wdswtr
What I see here is a sucker punch on paying more taxes. Lets think about this shall we. A dude thats really thirsty and wants a 32 oz drink buys a 32 oz drink and gets a 5c bottle tax right? Now the dude has to buy 2 16 oz bottles and get 2-5cent bottle taxes. Now lets cover this all up by saying we will call this trying to help out the fat asses urge to drink lots of soda. What a joke. Ever wonder where the bottle tax goes thats not claimed? This is nothing more than double dipping tax on taking advantage of a sugar addiction. You arent going to stop people from drinking more than 16 oz's of soda only when they have and will drink as much as they damn well want. Is this not AMERICA? This country has gone to complete shit. Once again thank you bastard liberals for your bullshit you inflict on us! To all you libs............. Kiss my white american ass!!!!! Im fed up! wdswtr
Hold on a second there. This is *NOT* a liberal stance. This is King Bloomberg at work. He ran on the Republican line in 2001 and 2005, and as an independent (on the Republican line again) in 2009. Don't try to lump him in with Democrats because you don't like his policies. He ran (and was elected) as one of you. Ever hear the expression you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a pig? I think that applies quite nicely here! 5.9cummins
How is it not an assault on freedom? I work for my money. It is mine to do with as I wish, so long as those uses do not bring harm to others. If I CHOOSE to buy and consume a 406 liter bottle of Jolt Cola, how is it government's job to tell me I can't do it? My body. My money. MY SODA. The role of government should be to protect us from others, protect us from assault, protecting property from theft, protecting us from fire, natural disasters etc. etc. etc. The minute some one says that they are protecting you from you get as far away from them as possible. I quite chewing tobacco, i work out, cut down on the amount i drink, eat a very healthy well balanced diet, eat mostly organic, etc. etc. because i made my own conclusions about whats best for me and my family. I have to live with those decisions down the road and i am prepared to deal with the consequences, good or bad. I am all for things like posting nutritional content for easy access. Give people the tools to make an educated decision and leave it up to them. That is what McDonald's is doing and i applaud them for it. But truth be told i don't think the majority of people that are regular patrons of such places could really give two hoots about nutrition content and are not worried about there waist line but none the less that is there CHOICE and its not Bloomberg or Michelle Obamas place to say otherwise. mxsmitz201
its gotta be tough being a non liberal or anybody with a decent head on their shoulders living in NYC, i feel like its a liberal mecca down there. and nothing against people from down state what so ever, but damn the city is like a malignant tumor for the rest of the state. ants
It's their whole arrogant attitude that gets me. They have to talk down to the little people and tell them how to live. A person who thinks he or she is way smarter than they are can be dangerous, especially if that person is in charge. Just look around. ants
Should people on food stamps be allowed to use those food stamps to buy only fruit, vegetables, whole grains and lean meat??? Elmo
http://www.cnn.com/2....html?hpt=hp_c2 Notice that the tri-state area already has one of the lowest rates while the south, texas, and midwest are the highest. Makes you wonder what is it about the demographics that causes this? Or is it simply cultural attitude and education?
Culvercreek hunt club
http://www.cnn.com/2....html?hpt=hp_c2 No doubt it is a problem. I just disagree the solution is an unenforcable law that does nothing. Do you really want to let the responsibility lay where it should? unhealthy habits should be reflected in each persons health insurance. just like auto insurance. That is the only fair way to do it. If you are taking care of yourself then you should have lower costs. But the ones that get all warm and fuzzy over these type of laws are the same ones not willing to make the tough calls and hold the unhealthy habits accountable. You drink 2 gallons od soda a day with your McDonalds meals and eating whole pizzas and can't afford the increase in premiums . Guess what...you chose it. Should people on food stamps be allowed to use those food stamps to buy only fruit, vegetables, whole grains and lean meat??? Done't name call I really want to know what you think. I do think that there should be restrictions on what can be purchased with food stamps- that's perfectly reasonable in my opinion.
Elmo
Speaking of welfare...there are 20+ people camped out in front of the Apple store in midtown right now waiting for the iPhone 5 to release this Friday. It's just Wednesday. Obviously these people have no jobs but yet they can afford to spend the $400-$500 the phone will release for on top of the monthly data charges. I've been told that the first few people started camping there since Saturday.
WNYBuckHunter
Maybe they just took a few days off. That would be like saying most of us that hunt must not have jobs because we are out in the woods for days or weeks at a time.

But then again, don't know what's worst...using hand out money on a phone or camping out, taking a whole weeks worth of vacation, just for a phone. virgil
just go into a 7-11 buy a big cup of ice and a 2 liter bottle of coke You can still get your Big Gulps at 7-11- they're classified as grocery stores and so they're exempt from the new law. ants
The whole thing is just so stupid. If a person wants extra salt, and a restaurant is "banned" by the King, from putting salt on the table, the person will just bring in their own salt. If a person wants more than a 16oz. Coke and the restaurant is banned, by the King, from selling cups bigger than 16oz. then the person will order 2 or more Cokes. The whole thing is a waste of time. I wonder how many of our tax dollars got burned up in the process of creating such a pointless turd of a law?
