He was asked if uninsured people who cant afford hospital fees should be turned away from emergency rooms. He said yes (if they aren't children). How is that not denying people who truly need help?

He said illegals should be. Well, why shouldnt they be? They have no right to be here in the first place.

He said capable adults. Well, if its their choice to not insure themselves, then they should pay the consequences, which include paying off their debt.

I understand why you dont agree with either of those two points though, you have drank alot of Kool Aid from the looks of it.

I agree they have no right to be here, but if society falls to a level where we'd rather let someone die due to lack of care than foot the bill for helping them, its a pretty sad day for all of us. Patch em up and send them home (where ever home is). You may call it Kool Aid, I call it human compassion for your fellow man.

As for adults, he said they should be refused care, not, they should be put on a payment plan.

I have spoken to a few Canadians where there is universal health coverage. Their biggest complaint is the fact that they bust their butts and go to work everyday even if they have a headache and is coughing but the person in the next cubicle takes the day off and goes to the doctor due to some minor issue and they'll split the cost via taxes. They feel that if the cost for such minor visits would be more prohibitive, the other person might be more inclined to "tough it out" and go to work.

Any private company I have ever worked for (IBM being one) has always requested that if you are sick, stay home. They don't want people to "tough it out" and make their co-workers sick also. I'm not saying that every sniffle should equal a visit to the doctor, I'm just saying many companies don't want you in the office if you're sick.

Yes, refused care if they dont want to pay for it either through insurance or a payment plan.

I can agree with patching them up just enough to send them packing. But Id rather see the flow of illegals stop, and the ones that are here be sent packing before they need the hospital in the first place.

Socialism is not compassion, its the removal of power from the people, using compassion as a smoke screen in this case.

Can you at least agree that the cost of medical care in this country is a symptom of the real disease so to speak? And that we need to go after the cause rather than the effect?

This is rediculous. Some of the dumbest things I have ever heard just came from this thread. So its okay for us to support the illegal immigrants and send them back to there own country on our dollar? They come here illegally, work under the table obviously, take jobs away from americans, and now you want to patch them up on our dollar and then ship them back home on our dollar as well? That is messed up thinking when we have americans right here that do not even have that luxery. The liberal mentality is just amazing and so rediculous at the same time.

Payment plan...I'm down with that but that's not exactly free medical insurance.

No system is ever going to be perfect. I don't care what the payment plan is, someone making 25K a year is never paying for a $150,000 emergency appendectomy. You still have to take care of them. That's part of being a civilized society.

Wait a second here:

You don't want illegal immigrants here, but you don't want to force them to go home. And you're calling other people dumb. OK, I'm going back WNYs post, its not nearly as "rediculous".

I'd rather see the flow of illegal immigrants stop too. I'm all for closed borders. No other country in the world has the crazy policies we do about illegal immigration. Then again, I also don't think foreigners (legal or illegal) should NOT (edit, oops) be able to work here and send most of their paychecks back to their country of origin and out of our economy.

This country is weighed down by three issues, and I've said this before in at least one other post. No matter what your political affiliation, the only three things that matter in the federal budget are Defense, Medicaid/care and Social Security. All three need reform.

And the person who allowed the tax code to be written so that illegal immigrants could claim the Child Tax Credit for children not even living in this country should be fired. As in, shot from a cannon.

I think the single biggest issue for the US is the out of control spending across the board, government is to big and no one is stopping them from the continual spending. Then at election time both parties claim they are going to change things and put a stop to it and nothing ever changes. Greed has taken over politics, nothing else matters to them at all.

I just dont see those as being the root causes of our problems. I see those as being caused by the real problems, which are illegal immigration, completely overcomplicated tax structure, too big of a government, the lawsuit industry. The illegals are bleeding us dry, the tax structure (and unions) has killed our manufacturing, and our our giant government spends us into oblivion while removing our freedoms one by one and creating more opportunity for welfare. The lawsuit industry drives the prices for everything up. Solve those issues, and most of the others correct themselves.

WOW are you feeling okay, you might want to actually go see a doctor yourself. Let me clear this up for you..

If you dont want theme here and they are not here then there is no one to patch up and send home. Get it? So do tell me there smart one where does it say force them to go home? Just the usual liberal twisting words to fit there agenda as always. Giving them the care and providing them the means to go home lmao I can see the flood of illegals crossing the border who can not afford there own care in there country just to get yet another free ride from americans. What a joke.

I've said it before. When the democrats are in office, money is thrown into every social program imaginable, and when republicans are in office they will throw money into fighting a war in some fleabag country. They BOTH spend way more than should be spent. If one thinks it's a waste to provide healthcare for illegals here, why is it any better to rebuild fleabag nations like Iraq and Afghanistan? Neither is better than the other in my opinion. Both parties are garbage and a movement should be started to vote for candidates not affiliated with either. I know it will probably take some time to change the current system, but it will NEVER happen if we don't start somewhere.

But, they ARE here. Do you have a time machine so that we can go back and prevent the problem from happening in the first place? What is your proposed solution?

No, I don't get it. Probably because we are talking about people already in this country, so...they are here.

EDIT: Damn, Virgil beat me to the obvious. :(

Quit funding them. Isnt that why they are here? If we quit providing there every need they have no reason to be here. Yes they are here and alot more thanks to your buddy in office. They have no legal right to be here thats why they are called illegal immigrants so why do we continue to provide them with means to stay? Take that away and do you think they will stay?

Steve863 in 2016.

Is it too late to write me onto the ballot for 2012?? Of course Doewhacker will be my running mate. All of you will be invited to the inaugural ball if we get elected. You will all get VIP treatment, I can assure you. Except the antler restriction supporters of course. They will be sent to Guantanamo.

And the guards will be made up of pissed off spike horns.

Venison at the ball of course, though some one else will have to bring it as I don't share and haven't even been deer hunting yet.

Here's one of those silly facts that gets in the way: Mexican illegal immigration rates have been decreasing since 2007 and there are now more Mexicans crossing back into Mexico from the US than there are Mexicans sneaking north.

I know, "rediculious"! (sic)

Less spending on social programs, less spending on military, more spending on hunting conservation and we'll all start to get along on this forum.

Oh, right. 'Self-deportation'. Forgot about that genius plan.
