Free fishing worms using grunt sticks

When I was a kid Netcraft sold "Electric Worm Getters".  Basically it was two copper rods that you stuck in the ground a certain distance apart and then plugged it in.  It was dicey, but it worked.  I imagine it went the way of Lawn Jarts, for good reason!

I did this with my niece and nephew this afternoon and they had a blast. We ended up with probably 2 dozen worms (I wish I would have got a photo, but I left my phone in the house). They made sure their mom let them take the “worm caller” home. It was really cool.

"Hey, sis! Hold these two rods for a minute!"

Cool video.

Cool video.

I did a quick Google search and saw that one version of this device was recalled after 30 deaths. And that would have been 25 or so years after I bought one.  Somehow I survived.  As I recall it worked, but was not great.

Pretty cool video Brian. Never tried that technique. When I was a kid we used to go out after a light rain at night and pick crawlers. You could fill a coffee can in an hour. Haven't done that in probably 30 years.
