GRST QDMA named 2013 QDMA new branch of the year!

Recommended Posts

The branch president, Mike Edwards, and I returned the other day from the 2013 QDMA National Convention in Athens Georgia, where we represented our branch for the presentation of the 2013 QDMA New Branch of the Year award. This award is a great achievement for the branch and all of the volunteers that helped make our banquet and educational events successful!

Thanks to everyone that attended our events through the year, and to those that supported our branch with donations! Keep your eye out for the future events we are currently working on!

I also would like to thank everyone.  We have had a great start and will continue to do so.   The organization has a lot of support in the Greater Rochester area!

I would also like people to start to learn about what the QDMA really does and get beyond antler restrictions.   This organization fights for every deer hunter and at time when our hunting heritage is being attacked heavily every deer hunter should be concerned.   Take a few minutes and learn about the organization before you form an opinion often formed by mis-information!

March 1, 2014, a Saturday we will have 2 guest speakers visit us for two great lectures on whitetail hunting.  Our speakers will be Matt Ross, QDMA Forester and Biologist and Neil Dougherty of North Country Whitetails.  Neil manages over 300,000 acres across the country and is a great habitat manager.   They also have a new book out that is great.  Check out  www.northcountrywhitetails.com for more info on the book.

Save the Date.   Details will be forth coming but it will be near 90 and 390.  Likely will start at 9 AM.

Our first lecture series in Jan 2013 we had 120 people show up, our field day we had over 60 way down in Steuben.

This will be a great morning!  Also check out our outreach programs thread here:

You will see we are about more than antlers!  Thanks Mike

Best of luck for continued sucess, I just found out about the out reach programs you guys are doing and think that is 100% what the sport needs more of. Awesome!

Thanks Doewhacker.....  if we do nothing more than open eyes as to what the Organization does for every deer hunter we will be happy.

We locally want to help in the community and give back.. the best part of QDM is being a manager as in making things better, improving habitat, vs being a consumer like the ol traditional hunter mindset who just takes from our resources.
