Thunderheads?

Any users out there? I am looking to get away from mechanicals and go towards fixed blades and thunderheads seem to offer the best deal - 5 for $39 @ Dicks. What are they lacking that drives their price down?

My uncle used the Thunderheads for years before the mechanical outbreak. Now he uses rage. As far as I know they didn't cause any problems. Killed lots of deer year after year. Never used anything else.

Thunderheads are great. I think thunderheads and muzzy are good for what I have used. But to be honest the best broadhead is the one with the best shot placement period. Always have super sharp blades with a double lung shot and i don't care what you use that deer is going down.

They lack the cutting diameter of the mechanicals. Other than that, decent broad head.

I shot Thunderheads for years and killed many deer with them. Shoot Muzzys now and I'm happy with them.

SHot them for years and never had one issue. I went to the G5 Montec CS becasue I wanted to be able to resharpen and not worry if I had replacement baldes with me. Other than that reason I would still be using them.

I shot a few times today with thunderheads. Seem to fly right - I only set up two of the five - the blades on one of the heads seem to jiggle a bit-side to side regardless of how hard tightened it- the other locked down great

Make sure you use the O rings. I have gone through bone and never lost a blade using the Thunderheads. For me they flew best in line with the vanes but everyones set up is different.

I used the 125 grainers for years, and had real good luck with them. I switched to mechanicals a few years ago when I got a new, faster bow.

The one and only issue that I had with shooting thunderheads is that they did not fly like my fieldpoints. I had to sight my bow in again, just for broadheads, each year. Then I switched to Rage... temporarily. Last year, mid-season, I switched to the basic-no-fancy-name-Muzzy. Those suckers fly just like my fieldpoints and are reliable! Inexpensive too! The only reason I didn't go back to thunderheads, was that I wanted to try another fixed head to see how they flew, since I already knew I'd have to change my sights with the thunderheads. Never heard any complaints about Muzzys either.

thunderheads are great,with that being said I use Ulmer edge heads.But you cant go wrong with a thunderhead

Where do you get the Ulmer edge? They're 2 inch cut right?

I may have to give them a try. Right now I use NAP Killzones and they worked good on a coyote last year but didn't get to shoot one through a deer.

I have taken a handful of deer with Thunderheads. No problems passing through broadside with carbon arrows and my old compound bow at about 55-60 lbs.. Mine were mostly doe not past 30 yards.I will buy more Thunderheads, in fact I think I will check on-line right now.....
