growalot
Phewwwww! that was a job ...but I finally got it up and secured with just a little bit more trimming to do...it's on the inside of a sharp corner and nestled amongst lower trees...next to a plot and over looking a low hanging branch that has had past scrapes...just down from a ridge and up wind from a natural water depression....Over the years I've hopelessly watched nice buck walk past from stands too far away...This tree is finally big enough but eewww does move in a stiff breeze.......I have it in a tree with a slight lean so I can lean back against the tree and it's so comfy...best shots are to my lft....for my back is to the plot......I would have to stand and turn for a full plot or a rt bow shot...but gun I'm good for the ridge front rt and with a twist lft.......can't wait to try her out ...will mock scrape the tree limb and ground...have a cam near by....PS 16 ft ladder stand...one more to go...

First-light
Glad you got it up, today is going to be 90 degrees......yuk.
G-Man
10 people over 350 acres. stands are set for bow (early and rut) and gun, and a few for muzzleloader. you can do it with less if you keep moving them but i have the stands so hang them all at least a month before bow season starts. less disturbance in woods. growalot
I have just 73 acres and over 30+ stands and 12+ blinds...some never get used...but I'd rather be moving just me around than a bunch of stands....they are routinely walked under ...unfortunately some are bedded under the stands...just part of the land scape.. Me too First light...raging thunder storm and high winds with rain now...but the back of my knee feels like a torch is resting on it...lol
Fantail
Looks like a nice spot for sure. 30+ stands on 73 acres - wow how do you manage to decide on where to go?
growalot
Thanks ...I depends on lots of things...whats been cut as far as neighboring ag fields...the wind....how tired I am...if I got a late or really early start...what Ive seen from previous sits...ie...I can see other stands and blinds...so if they have favored trails closer to those areas ...it's a simple move the next time I hunt...also what I hear...if the trees are snapping or waving around from rubbing or I'm hearing sparring and grunts a distance away as I sit...say mid day...then I'll move to that area on the next sit ...also season gun or bow....and weather I'm in the open woods or the thick stuff With so many stands any shift in plans ...is very subtle...They don't get to pattern me...I have about 2 miles of winding and intersecting trails...that now after years of mowing...are pretty much moss covered...I haven't had to mow but one this year and leafs are mowed just twice...then the wind does the rest

WNYBuckHunter
We have 1 last stand to hang, then do a quick check of all the others (@ 30 sets between 2 properties) and we will be done. This weekend is button up time.
growalot
Yep ...Same here....I think I may loose a couple of spots...I needed to build 3 new ladders and repair one stand...Mr B has had a rough time of it and I can't pressure him on getting the wood for me...for one thing he sprained his ankle..so now we have two us us gimping around here and still working....not good this time of year...but I will get the other stand put together...just won't put it where I originally planned....Good Luck everyone...be safe
Doewhacker
Man you guys are serious about stands! I am going to clear a path into our one spot tomorrow, this thick hollow stuff grows there like a jungle and every year we have to clear a path to get in. I will hang one stand in my best doe killing spot there for my wife and thats it. The rest will be hang and hunt style this year.
