Started shooting my recurve tonight

Did pretty good I thought,but the glove I have isn't doing it for me.It slides off at the shot and in general is a pain in the ass.What do you guys and gals shoot for a glove?

Years ago when I did shoot recurves and long bows I used G Fred Asbel's glove.  Later on Bighorn Bow Company them.  They held up very well.

Because I just started out I had some old Gold Tips refletched with 4 inch feathers

Another stick shooter! I use to use a leather tab to shoot with, but ended up going over to a basic leather glove that I got from cabelas that latches over my 3 "middle" fingers and has a wrist strap that has Velcro to keep it tight to the wrist

Just a single layer leather tab.

Use a deep hook - first crease.

Damascus shooting glove. love it. Its thin and lets you feel the string on the crease of your fingers

I'd say those are pretty good groups for just starting out.  I have gloves and tabs, but I haven't used a glove the last couple of years.  I prefer a tab and seem to shoot more consistent with it.  Of the tabs I've used I prefer the alaskan supertab.

Really anything but bare fingers that feels comfortable to you is what you should use... a tab might be more to your liking... try a few different things... thats a pretty good grouping you started with...

Off subject, but why is it lately that I can't see any posted photos.  Just red X and even with a right click it won't open the picture.

 

Anyways, congrats on what sounds like nice groups.  I need to pull the recurve out again soon.

I bought a Samick Sage from a member here last November.From what I read on tons of forums and between private messages between members here,Archerytalk and tradforum that is one of the best beginner bows for the money

i got a samick sage myself. havnt shot anything else really. got pretty banged up hunting with it.

 

thinking of buying something else for next year but definitely gonna stick with take downs and save up for a custom

good recommendation.  best glove I've shot with so far.  you can shoot off the first joint from the finger tips.  don't know of anyone that shoots very well with a deeper "hook" than that.  you can order one straight from 3Rivers

I bought pair of  leather palmed mechanics gloves and they seem to work well.I need to find someplace that if I order the wrong size it wont be a big deal to return.Do they make a damascus glove that is a full glove?I think thats what I want is a glove that has a front and a back.

Use to own a Bear Kodiak Hunter 50lbs@28" draw. My brother had the very same bow but in 45lbs. Like a fool, have long since sold both of them!!! Recurve bows need constant practice to stay proficient. Started out with a glove, and then switched to a tab. Much more accurate and clean releases. Then bought a Martin Howatt Hunter @60lbs,. big mistake, ended up hurting my shoulder trying to draw that weight back. Sold that one as well and went back to a compound. Using the 45lb Kodiak, I got quite accurate shooting the instinctive method. Everyone should try one out.....but don't over bow yourself!!!

Bout one set from amazon one set from the shop. I have average hands and got the wrong size in beginiin. After sweatin them up they fit good enough though being leather. I use hobo gloves with em when its cold. Qnd they cover most of back and palm off hand. Look em up on amazon. I like em cause its easy to get a deep hook on em. Had to work on my release alot with em though

had my recurve delaminate so I had Bear ship me another one (50# Super Kodiak).  I've got to get it together and tuned now so I can shoot it once things warm up a little.
