Grouse Season

How were the grouse numbers in your given areas?

Although I don't hunt them, I haven't seen one while deer hunting in a couple (maybe three) years.  Actually I don't even remember hearing them drumming in the spring in a couple years.

 

OK, I'll add 8N, 8H and 9H are the areas I hunt mostly.

I didn't hunt them either, but I will say I saw quite a few in 4W and 4R.....enough where it would have been worthwhile to do so.

I've seen one in all my years hunting in 4y.... Scared the hell out of me when it took off..... It didn't move until I was three feet away from it I had no clue it was even there

They have been damn scarce in the areas of 8T and 8X where I hunt.

Never seen one in 3J but then again i have only been hunting there for 5 years.

9w one of the best years for them in quite awhile, flushing 2-4 birds in several different areas consistantly. hoping they have another good nesting this year. population is on their cycle upswing by me..think 2 more years till they hit peak.

I only hunt them occasionally (and I'm not very good at it), but I'm out in my woods quite a bit. I'd say sightings are a little below average this past year. 2012-2013 I couldn't walk in the woods without putting at least one up.

I'm looking forward to hearing the drumming soon. Good sign of spring and this winter has dragged on too loooong!
