HectorBuckBuster
Well according to this story you will need to buy a Muzzlerloader tag to hunt with a crossbow expect during the regular hunting season. For licensing, the new law treats crossbows as a "muzzleloader." Hunters must possess a muzzleloader hunting privilege to legally hunt with a crossbow during any muzzleloader season OR during open portions of the early bowhunting seasons. The muzzleloader license privilege is not required when hunting with a crossbow during the early bear season or the regular firearms seasons. http://www.syracuse.com/outdoors/index.ssf/2014/08/its_final_crossbows_are_now_legal_for_hunting_in_new_york_beginning_this_fall.html#incart_river
Culvercreek hunt club
. The muzzleloader license privilege is not required when hunting with a crossbow during the early bear season or the regular firearms seasons. But the certification is required whenever it is used...right?

Five Seasons
The certification is not a big deal. Go to this link and print it out sign it and carry it after you read that document ! http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/wildlife_pdf/14crossbows.pdf instead of taking a 3 day course like the rest of the archers do. Five Seasons
One this Sat at my local range. 8AM till done around 5. 40+ signed up with at least 50 turned away. One day course by a Master Instructor of 25+ years. or you can take it 3 nights broken up... but hey a crossbow is less dangerous so I guess they don't need a proper safety course, just a greater setback... right? SteveB
Simply addressed your claim that suggested the course is a 3 day event when it is often done in one.
phade
It's offered in a 1 and a 3 day in many places. Many of the ones up here in our area are 3 day. The 1 day courses are often close to the season.
G-Man
i'm not positive but think an instructor has to have 3 years using the weapon to teach it.. just legal for 3rd year this year.. so how do you get around this ...make it a certficate and sell it as a muzzleloader licence.....
