Typically the hot does do hang with the fat ugly ones, it makes them that much better looking.

be cautious when harvesting a lone doe.  it very well could be a button buck.  make sure it's got a long looking nose, mature looking longish body with short legs, or close enough view you can see it's not.  a hot doe can act nervous always looking where it's been, tail at half mast, and/or a buck dogging it.

I shot a lone doe.  Turned out to be a spike.  little 2" spikes.   So legally it was a doe, but I was like.....   oppsssssssss. I mounted it anyway

I agree with dbhunter....

VERY often a lone antlerless deer will turn out to be a button buck.

I prefer to shoot adult does, and I generally avoid shooting single antlerless deer. An adult doe will MOST OFTEN be in the company of other deer.
