'net' neutrality

Recommended Posts

Unelected bureaucrats decided yesterday (2/26/2015) to place control of the internet in the hands of the federal government. The vote went as planned: 3 democrat appointees voted 'for', and the 2 republican appointees (who were mandated by congress to be there) voted 'against'.

The fact that this decision will not likely survive scrutiny by the judicial system and become law is not the issue here, although the changing make-up of the judicial system will become increasingly important in the future.

At issue is the right to speak freely. The most commonly used method of written communication today involves the internet, and it doesn't take a great leap of imagination to see why a governing regime, any governing regime, would like to have control over that pipeline. The most benign of intentions may appear on the surface, but quite honestly I think there's a big shark under that dorsal fin.

The bad part is we keep hoping for the courts to save our butts.  That system is just as broken as the rest of the govt.  Sometime soon, we need to take our country back while we still have one to take back.

Some of us already do that and when we do we are called law breakers. lol.  We have been taking back our country, on our pieces of the country we own anyways, for a few years now. Seems we can do a better job.

Yeah! Let's give control of the internet to the corporations! They've never screwed us, EVER, what could happen?

Funny, although you said control of the internet which kind of implies running it, the ruling only brings the internet companies under the umbrella of the FCC's rules. Flatly stating that interenet companies must treat all cusomers alike and cannot create fast lanes for those who pay.

What he said. ^^

People need to stop taking knee jerk reactionary position based on their political leanings and look at an issue for what it is.

The reason behind these regulations is because the Corporate ISP conglomerates have been and would continue limit service to individuals and smaller business in favor of corporate quasi partnerships. Take a look a the lobbied money in opposition to this and start to wake up are realize that the government corporate complex has no regard for the citizenry.

What do you mean? Just look how the heath care insurance corporations took care of us. As long as you didn't get so sick that it cut into their profits. Life time coverage limits ya know. Oh yeah & if you were already sick & lost your insurance, they couldn't be expected to cut into those profits to pick up the expense of providing life saving care. "Pre-existing conditions are bad for the bottom line.

But hey there was always the emergency rooms for the dead beats that just didn't want to pay for health care insurance. Why should they when us that have insurance will just be charged more to cover their bills.

The REICH wing health insurance industry lobby propaganda machine is working perfectly. Now, Comcast's stooge Ted Cruz is leading the Lemmings to the cliff. Joseph Goebbels would be so proud!

This seemed to come out of nowhere. What was the big problem with the internet and who was complaining about it so much as to prompt the government to take it over so fast?

It seems that the tipping point was Comcast putting the squeeze on Net-Flix to pay higher rates or they wouldn't carry them. Net-Flix caved & paid the ransom, but since they had a large user base, it got public attention.

Guess who would pay the added cost?

Junkie, the government fixed that by making everyone else pay a lot more for those that have no insurance and no desire to stay healthy or get a job.  It's just collectivist thinking that goes a long way to destroying capitalism, free enterprise, liberty and freedom of choice.  It is the main goal of Progressives.  Everything this administration and Progressives do has that goal in mind.

"Net Neutrality" is double speak, just as "Affordable" Care Act is.  In reality it will allow the government to control free speech and hamper speech is does not approve of, especially speech that is critical of the government.

If you thought what the IRS was being allowed to do under Lois Lerner was bad, you ain't seen nothin' yet!

this is soooo scary and just about everywhere you look online it is being reported as the greatest thing ever. it protects the internet yet does the total opposite. I found one article from a leftist who acknowledges how bad this really is.
