Driving home today ...now mind you I see deer every day....I had 2 deer run along the car in feild grass...Here's the thing though they were small. I mean really small framed... August fawn size...and not a spot on them....hhmmmm...

Maybe they were late fawns from last summer that somehow survived winter.

I have two that are with their mothers still. Real small and not this years.

I thought that...man if that is true...they are about the hardiest deer I have ever seen...or there is some kinda of winter Eden on this hill...I know we have good cover in the pines and food in the swampy areas where the snow doesn't' build up as bad but last year was brutal. Then again they were not far from the QDM place here...he may have his own "plan" in place...

I had 2 sisters and there mom eating around the hose from 5am to 9am this morning and I kept on looking at the 2 sisters ,No spots and there summer coat on just like there mom's .I would have sworn they were born a 2 to 3 months ago.

Was seeing a couple like that with mom, while collecting maple sap back in March. Deer are hardier than most people give credit. I believe many helping hands have an influence also.

That one looks like a perfectly normal size yearling to me.

For some reason the picture makes the deer look Bigger then it actually is.You would have to see it in person.

Last night I had a doe And 3 healings cross the road in front of us...they stopped at my brush pile fence so we stopped and chatted a bit. Now those deer looked normal for this time of year. No where near the size of the two I saw the other day...Your right lots of healings did survive around our area as well.
