This is not going to go over well.

Once again, it is alleged the animal was illegally killed.  At this point, two people have been arrested, the Dentist isn't one of them, and no one has been convicted.

I find the lynch mob attitude surrounding this case to be disgusting, and a clear sign to every hunter, you are being threatened.

I know where you're going on the "innocent until proven guilty" but nothing in this story looks like he's worth defending. Not to mention previous hunting violations it's pretty clear the guy was a d-bag. So I'll say it again. Stop defending him and do like I am and defend the good ethical hunters who are being lumped in to "all hunters are bad". All blacks aren't criminals is what the media tells us right? so stick that back in their face and accept that some hunters are bad. Just like some gun owners are irresponsible. We shouldn't defend these people. They just make the rest of us look bad and hurt our own hunting rights.

Do you think the mob that is attacking this guy would come after you or I if they saw us posing with an elk or deer that we killed?  I don't.  There is just something about certain animals that spark outrage in people, and the lion is one of them.  Charismatic mega-fauna as Steven Rinella would say.  I bet even if this guy did everything legally (allegedly) and killed this lion he would be getting the same attacks.  The difference is, hunters would back him up.  No one wants to support a poacher, except apparently Ted Nugent.

no the difference is that this lion was famous and protected and it was illegal. nobody likes to see dead lions, but he screwed up one way or the other and basically he shot Simba. Many lions are legally killed every year by average joe's like him. Why is this one famous? Because the lion is. No different than a high profile celebrity being killed vs a homeless guy. One is murder the former is an assassination.

I smell the sense of entitlement that stupid amounts of money gives a person.

C'mon now Espresso. Statement is a bit broad. All wealthy people have a sense of entitlement is the same as saying all hunters poach. Individual actions speak to the individual, not a class he may belong to.

I will have to say that what's happening now is 10x's worse then those two..........this one has been running on every news channel for 2-3 days and is all over the internet. I don't do facebook and quite honestly would not have even known about those two if it wasn't for the hunting websites I visit......and not to mention many in the hunting community is bashing what happened.

Not my cup of tea, but these stories seem to come up every couple months or so,, its purely anti hunter driven, like the girl who shot the giraffe couple months back, and the rich texas girl who went on a few safaris before that ,,they post their pics and let the ignorant masses have at em....

What baffles me is I thought African "dangerous game" had a caliber requirement of .375 or more,, so why is bowhunting even allowed?? Wounding and tracking these bowshot monsters all over creation just draws attention and adds fuel to the fire,,,if youre gonna pay 50K to add a lion to your big 5 bragging rights... just wack it with a big rifle and be done with it...Stop trying to be Fred friggin Bear! JMHO

a $50,000.00 payday probably helped them make the decision to engage in shady activity.

$50,000.00 is steep even for a lion... but not out of the park crazy, he would have paid a lot to hunt them even with a reputable outfit so that wouldn't be a red flag into illegal activity.... I think anyways...

I surely haven't forgotten about him.  Been trying to tell people long before that incident that Nugent is an idiot.  Many hunters and gun enthusiasts love him no matter what, however.  They keep kissing his butt like there is no tomorrow, while he's laughing all the way to the bank.

Lots of conflicting stories, it's possible the hunter did nothing wrong. It could be that he thought he was going on a baited lion hunt, so he thought nothing of it when he sat in front of bait and shot one.

no I didn't. We're not comparing apples to apples. You can't lump a poacher being attacked on social media in with an ethical hunter. The cheerleader's hate quickly died down and she was defended. This guy does not deserve our defense.

I wont be one to jump to any conclusion so quickly. Ive heard enough reports that detail what went down and they all seem to point the finger at the guides. Ive also heard alot of stories that tell a different tale. What ever happened to giving people their day in court before you publicly string them up for something they are accused of or charged with?

Lets say you paid a guide for a hunt, and something the guide told you to do broke a game law, and you didnt know it, and you got charged with poaching. Would you want everyone to call for your head, make death threats, destroy your means of income, etc?

The thing that gets me about most of the stories I hear that are saying the Dr is at fault, is that all of them contain a ton of anti hunting, animal rights rhetoric. It makes it so they sound more emotional than factual. Like I said though, I wont jump to any conclusions about the situation until all of the facts are laid out and the court hands down its verdict.

It amazes me how people can behave this way.
