The best secret to killing big bucks on public land is to "get in the woods" far from where others are hunting... big bucks tend to hang in the same kind of real estate no matter where they live... hu

So what does other people poaching have to do with me again? I'm just stating what others were thinking. You had no reason to attack the OP. If you don't like his post feel free not to post in the thread. I can't stop my father from failing to tag his buck anymore than I can stop you from letting your keyboard throw up dribble all over this forum.

I tend to be rather truthfull in all my postings here whether you like it or not.... which is more than I can say for some.

Not to MENTION the fact  that he sometimes wears SHORTS in the woods at inappropriate times...

 

Now I can't swear to this, because I haven't met him face to face, but I heard  from a VERY RELIABLE SOURCE  that his breath smells and he doesn't love JESUS !!...

If you are after big bucks on public land you should consider "thinking outside of the box".    To get big, they got to be old and to get old in pressured areas they have to evade those "expert" 10% of the hunters who kill 90% of the bucks.  I see the exact same thing happen in fishing.  It is often some new, non-expert who lands the largest single fish, which falls for some crazy deal that no "seasoned" angler would consider.  My wife almost always catches the biggest bass when I take her out, but never the most and she never concentrates much on it.  I can't count the number of hunters I know who's first buck was also their largest. 

 

Read stuff on hunting sites like this and magazines, etc, and try doing the opposite.  For example, one of the largest bucks I ever saw up in the Adirondacks was bedded in a little grassy thicket just off the shoulder of a main highway, with a hunting camp right across the street.  The hunters in that camp would always take trails deep into the woods, or even take boats across the lake to spots where they would begin their hunts, ignoring that little thicket just a stones throw away.  The only reason I hit it was because I noticed some deer hair on a barbed-wire fence along the perimeter.

There's a chittin' ton of misinformation out there being handed out by anyone and their grandma pretending to be somebody they are not.

 

I can't help what any of you choose to believe, but I'm not afraid to call out a poser when I see one.

If you're offended by that, you may be a poser yourself, so you should back up your brother in posing,lol

I have no clue about any of you besides what you get behind.

 

Now that I see a few of you lining up behind.......rob, I know where you stand, and what your intentions are.

Some guys know how to hunt...., and some guys have a following of guys that don't.

Poachers will pay for their sins. Bold move admitting your Dad is a poacher when it's easy to track down your name/address and with a few minutes of digging figure out who your Dad is and then it's all over for Pops. I'd be shocked if he hunts this year.
