Rainy days

Does anyone go out hunting knowing that it will rain? I'm itching to go squirrel hunting tomorrow but they are forecasting rain. Do squirrels even come out while raining? Lol

I am not a big squirrel guy, but having spent a good deal of time in the woods, I would say squirrel activity is low to non existent when raining.

Yeah I was thinking that. My first free weekend and it rains smh.

I shot a limit of squirrels in an hour Tuesday morning in a light but steady rain...

 

I wouldn't go out in a down pour, but I wouldn't hesitate to put on my lightweight rain parka and hunt squirrels in a light rain or intermittent showers...

 

In the wet woods, you can walk VERY quietly...

Love hunting bad weather!  If you have the right gear rain is no big deal.  I would go and see what its like.  You can always bail if it gets bad.

I'm going to get into reloading one of these days. It just seems smart.

That's true. The only thing that sucks is its a 3 hour round trip plus tolls just to get to a place I can legally hunt.

Being in the woods during a rain can be so soothing to the soul. This time of year, all you need is a light rain jacket and you are good to go. If you get a shot, well that's good too. If you made time to go, just go! If you are like me, you wont regret it!

i don't buy anything that isn't rain proof, from light to heavy. Our hunting weather is too unpredictable.

In defense to my earlier comment, not to say I don't go out in windy days or (light) rainy days either.  I listened to the wind howl and the acorns drop all afternoon.  Took this guy at the end of the day today.

i like being in the woods when its raining especialy just as it stops the critters move well as soon as the sun comes out i keep a pop up ground blind just for this reason

Deer hunting in the rain is nice if your still hunting , no walking around on corn flakes !  But the reverse of that is the Deer aren't walking around on corn flakes either !
