turkeyfeathers
New rear pads and rotars last October. This October inside a year. Calipers had locked up killing pads and rotars. No warranty as calipers still original. I got just short of one year out of them. $700 later and walking funny for a few days I'm all set. Not happy !! jjb4900
I'll do a lot of my own work.....but it all depends on what else I've got going on, I would rather pay the couple hundred in labor this time of year and spend the day doing something else...like hunting. growalot
Parts alone were over 350.00...cheap labor for us considering what he gets paid...time is money ...

DirtTime
It's always this time of year when things go wrong. Vehicles break down or need parts, something around the house breaks.
Doc
Yes this is not a real good time to be encountering that kind of big expense. But consider this ...... lets pretend the holidays were over, and it is February, and we had a nice new 8" of snow over a layer of ice, and you were coming down that hill with no brakes. Maybe it was a stroke of exceptionally good luck to have at least had dry pavement.
growalot
That scenario for most Doc...but. not for me...I never go down our hill using the brakes...I use the transmission..also I'm sure we UN like the younger ppl here were taught how to stop on ice...I had the best darn drives Ed teacher born...went to York but he took us to Pavilion...Mr.Morris and Geneseo to learn...I was taught on the back road hills in Pavilion how to stop on an icy hill using the emergency brake only...also how to stop at the bottom of the Mr Morris school hill...not learning that could get you aT bone with a semi...if his brake foot wasn't fast enough....Lol Edited November 18, 2015 by growalot

growalot
It was A trip teaching t h e kids how to drive a standard...both of them had them as first cars...It was a thing I insisted on as well as Mr.B...one of our daughter summer jobs was driving a dump truck on a job..our son tractors on a farm...They both appreciated it...
