Whiteface Mountain ?

Thinking of a trip to see Whiteface and other spots in the Adirondaks. Any members here live in the general area that might have some insight on where to stay or NOT to stay.

If we go it'll be without much notice like maybe just a couple weeks. I know places fill up fast this time of year. Roll 'in the dice........

The hike up cascade Mt is cool if up for a decent hike.

The Crowne Plaza in Lake Placid is top notch. A bit pricey but well worth it! And you can see Whiteface from your room.

The wife and i went there a few years ago in late april , so many cool things to just stop and lok at , my favorite part was the bob sled run still had ice it ,that was an incredible ride!

If you fly fish, there's a ton of Browns right at the base of the mountain. Park at the whiteface lot way to the right and walk down the path. We go every year and stay in LP at mirror lake inn

We stayed at Art Devil's Olympic Motor inn in LP and enjoyed the accommodations. A pool is on site also. Walking distance to most everything. LP has some little green trolleys that can take you to places. Whiteface Mt. was cool, although I had to step away from the edge at the parking lot. Dang high up there, but fun.

Take very warm clothes as a backup. As for places to stay, usually tent camping when I was in that area during summer. So no help.

Larry, we stayed at alpinecountryinnandsuites. Its just before you drive up to the top of w face. Its about 6-7 min north of whiteface. Nice place, quiet and cheaper than most places in whiteface.

Smart money is on Wilmington. Hungry Trout or North Pole Resorts. Right on the Ausable. If you want to stay in LP, Crowne Plaza is actually a little cheaper than some of the joints down the hill. Definitely go to high falls gorge. It's easier than Cascade.

Hungry Trout is where I always stay.   Just past entrance to Whiteface.  Owners are class act, the restaurant and bar serve excellent food.  Right on the water and there is a fly fishing shop right there too.
