First off, it was a joke where I was calling myself creepy. You first reaction was right.

 

Second, thats my daughter, and I would never let anyone attack her without consequences.

 

Third, I carry, and I know that just because someone is dressed as a clown, no matter where they are I cant and wouldnt shoot them unless they were attacking me. I also know that if someone is walking out of the woods with a sword, or any other weapon, I cant and wouldnt shoot them. If someone is threatening or attacking me with a weapon, thats a whole different ballgame.

 

Seriously, all these people saying that someone should get shot because they look like a creepy clown, are idiots.

If they have some sort of weapon you better believe I'll pull my CCW. Especially if they begin to follow us, you can't go waving a sword around in public and expect to be fine I'm pretty sure a cop would put them down if in that same situation and they didn't comply.

I apologize.  I couldnt see fine details on my phone.  Just saw a child.  No harm intended.  

 

Unless i think im ready to be attacked i would try and avoid the situation at all costs.  I guess what i was trying to say is that when people are frightened you never know how they will react.  If one of these clowns got hurt by someone I probably wouldnt be shocked.  Especially when the last story that was released was about a kid being chased with a sword.

You can carry a sword around all you want, same as a knife, rifle, etc. You cannot "pull your CCW" just because someone has a weapon that they are not threatening anyone with, period. As I said, as soon as they start threatening or attacking, it becomes a different story.

Not if it causes public hysteria which a clown waving a sword around would, also in NY there is no open carry you can not walk the streets with any sort of firearm in plain sight. The only addendum to the law is if you are hunting and going to and from your vehicle to your hunting location.

Theres nothing vague about it. Concealed carry laws apply to pistols. There are no laws that state you cannot carry a long gun in plain view.

I know what the law reads I know what concealed carry for pistols is, what I am talking about is open carry of a long gun down a street. In NY there are laws that do not allow you to open carry a long gun.

Thats a local law, not state.

 

BTW, if you keep reading, it says you can carry one openly if you have a locking device on it (trigger lock, etc)

But you specifically said no open carry in NY. NY doesn't regulate the carry of long guns in open carry. The addendum you quoted may be a local but it is NOT a state restriction.
