I thought I'd like this...but it just pizzed me off...what a joke...for one thing he should do jail time for the car chase alone...fleeing police and putting the public in danger with a high speed chase...I don't give a damn if it was back roads...people live and walk on back roads too...:mda:

I just can't fathom why someone would do this...I mean why?  Are you going to look at that deer and think...yea boy...I got that sucker....tuff shot...almost couldn't get the window down all the way without him spooking...I just don't understand what would make someone do that. Same with people jacking deer at night...what do these people need a deer so badly for? Food? I don't get it...I guess because I am not a criminal...

Maybe it's due, in part, to laziness, or the easiest path to "success."  Lots of folks like short-cuts, and will seize any opportunity available to "get ahead."

I don't know either...

WTH?! That is quite the gentle slap on the wrist. Shouldn't running from police over a legitimate chase at least have some jail term?

As much as I've heard about a wardens unlimited jurisdiction, I've also heard of them taking a ton of sh!t from people without doing anything.

All of the bandits getting over on warden stories I know are from PA tho.

A local loser shot it twice- back to back nights. Whole family has been cited on nearly a yearly basis for trespassing, poaching, etc. The penalties are minimal due to being town and county employees and dealing w local judge. Cheaters don't get hit hard at all here in NY.

You all are much too lenient...I recommend drawing and quartering....

A  game warden running a robodeer  on state land up near Monterrey a few years ago had a sense of humor...

A guy shot at the deer and the wardens sprung from their blind and nailed him...

While they were writing him up, one of the wardens told the violator  " You're the third guy we've  arrested here this morning..If it makes you feel any better, you're the only one that hit the deer"....

while true you can road hunt get out and shoot at game in NY   BUT you have to be off the maintained portion of the roadway,  so wherever the town/county/state highway maintains ( plows, mows, trims) you have to be beyond that. 

also taking into consideration that unless you have permission to be on the property you now have a trespassing issue even the act of shooting the game on posted property makes it an illegal kill.

people that do this give us all a black eye, the penalties are too small and the laws are poorly written thus giving these people all kinds of loopholes.  not all states are as laxed as NY, in pa you can not use a vehicle to find game. so in pa your driving down the road see a deer hop out run 100 yards into the woods and shoot that deer you can still be arrested.

 

I wish they had more deer and turkey decoys and more importantly the manpower to run those stings.  it just makes no sense to me how someone can drive down the road see a big buck jump out and shoot it then have it mounted and then look at it every day knowing they poached it...... but then again poachers do not have a conscious so its all good I guess but the rest of us live with the black eye  they give the rest of us sportsman.

I asked this guy how he shot this giant 14 point BRUTE!  He said I was walking down the driveway and shot him across the street, I later found out he poached him at night!  Funny how when you ask the story from some hunters it's short and sweet, I always take that with a grain of salt!  Same with a few guys who get deer every year, then I find out they bait, lol. 

 

I also wish they could set up more of these fake deer but what's the point if they only get a slap on the wrist!!!  Should have at least one in every county!

      It is current the last week for regular season in upstate NY. Living the life working and being a full time student, I have some time off this week and would like to take a ride upstate to do a gun hunt. Never have I hunted public land in the areas 3 G, F, or N and was looking for some recommendations and help! I had used the DEC info locator and found California Hill and thought I might go there. Is there any recommendations on areas to go to in any of the wmu’s? Or on California? Any help would be really appreciated!!

      Hello everyone I’m currently looking at a house in deposit ny I’ve been deer hunting for many year mainly in Columbia and Greene county never been to Broome county. Before anything I was just curious how is the hunting there ? I know there aren’t any antlered restrictions in Broome but are there monsters out there or is it mainly just small spike?       The procedure below to carry the bow is detailed below:
      You have to use a cotton towel or something similar. You have to wrap it around the bowstring. Doing so ensures that it will not cause an injury with the bowstring coming in contact with your body. It will not be that sharp either. Once you cover the bowstring with the towel, you have to wear it like a sling. So that it will not fall away from your body. The best way to cover the bowstring is to use a large enough towel. You can wrap it around twice as well. When making a sling out of the cotton towel, you have to ensure that you tighten it to get a snug fit. In that case, it will not slip away. Consequently, it will remain in place. When using this technique to carry a bow on your back, it is essential to practice before going in the wilderness. Only when you can move briskly and without noise using the scanning mechanism should you go ahead with it. To remove the bow, you have to hold it at the bottom. After that, you have to slip it over your head as well as arm. Doing so ensures that you can remove it quickly. When trying to focus on a prey, you need to remove the bow quickly. The technique for removal that we have highlighted above can certainly help you do so.

      I'm new to the area and looking for some places to hunt  the next few weekends through bow/muzzleloader season. I'm living in New Paltz, and the place that seems the most promising to me so far is Vernooy Kill State forrest, and north into Sundown. Has anyone had any luck in these areas? Is there anywhere better in the area I should check out? Any info is welcome

      My name is Raul and I am a new hunter! I've been hunting public land for now, but have been suffering. I've done 2 10 hour sits at Kings Park and 3 10 hour sits at Rocky Point and haven't seen one deer. I use a treestand and use scent blocker. I also get there super early in the morning. I need help! I plan to go again this friday. I scouted Rocky point after the first day and always see sign and I try to hunt the areas, but no success. I hunt around 42 and 36 I think. If someone wants the exact spot I can send them it on a map. I am really just looking for help in any areas and everything. I have put so much effort yet all i want is to just see one that will keep moral up. Any help is really appreciated!
