pistolp71
I've had this banded young guy in my yard for the past couple days. Man is he young and dumb. My kids have been getting a kick out of him following them and the neighbors around.

Oh yeah, heard him gobbling at neighbors when I woke up. Calling him over with a diaphragm. He was shock gobbling at everything.

pistolp71
Wasn't a reward band. Just said report harvest and numbers.
helmut in the bush
What are you waiting for? get him with the chloroform rag and take that band, that's a trophy, how many more of those are you going to see in your life? Of all the geese I've shot, I only have 10 or 12 bands, gas him
Buckmaster7600
We had a boss tom around here 1 spring that wasn't afraid of anything not that friendly but just super ballsy I got the grand idea that on opening day I was going to kill him bare handed. Take my advice and just shoot him, some stitches and a torn rotator cuff later I killed him with a shotgun the next day. He's the one I have mounted with a double beard.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Lawdwaz
Best be careful, he could turn on you or your kids at some point as the breeding season heats up. I've know people that have been seriously harassed by wild turkeys..........I bet he could put a hurting on a kiddo.

I've got a bunch of waterfowl bands, $100 reward bands and goose neck collars.

That would certainly be the last thing he did.

How many turkey bands do you have?

That's cheating, it's meant for harvest research. That would be like going to the local duck pond with some bread and jumping on one of the banded geese and prying the band off.
Paula
People don't really cheat and take bands off living birds do they?

Two...but they weren't people friendly birds from the suburbs.
growalot
Is that a solid seamless band on that Bird? I only ask because I raised exotics and that's the type of band we had to put on our chicks...They had to go on as chicks and they grew into them...only way to get them off was cutting off the foot. Does the DEC band chicks?
turkeyfeathers
Years back we had a grouse nested on the #8th tee at the country club I belonged to. 2 years in a row actually. It would hear the cart pull up and come off the nest , greet us and we could actually pet it. It was pretty neat.
