Hacked

Got a call from a fraud center yesterday.  Someone tried to use my debit card to buy $400+ worth of stuff at a Dollar General in North Carolina.  They flagged the purchase, so it didn't go through.  They called and let me know, and told me to get a new card.  All good.  Trouble is, my bank won't be open until Tuesday.  Meanwhile, Netflix tried to process my automatic payment and it was declined because my debit card is suspended.  Today's high is supposed to be 4 degrees.  The projected wind chill is -17.  So, no ice fishing for me and no Netflix.  These are First World problems, so it's no big deal.  I would like to get my hands on the person who hacked my card and put the Chippewas to them... by order of the Peaky Blinders!

It happened to me two months ago. I only took my card two times for gas, and it was the only two times that card left the house!

They say that gas stations are high risk.  I also heard that they have computer programs that generate the numbers independently, so they aren't hacking you, but pulling the number out of thin air.  Not sure if that's true.

Always wondered what it would feel like to squash someone's grape with my super loggers. Lol

Got hit for a couple of grand a few years back.  Someone bought several plane tickets from an airport in Denver with my card even though I had the card with me in NYC.  They said it was an in-person purchase.  They had the names of all the passengers.  My bank refunded me the money and gave me a new card and told they'll take care of the perp.

Last Christmas someone bought 500 worth of stuff from bestbuy and did an in store pickup (within 15 min). They said it wasn’t their fault and to call the police. I told them that their website was hacked and their associate didn’t id the pickup and they said sorry. I’ve spent thousands there which they’d know just by looking at my rewards account and I told the idiot from India I wouldn’t be shopping there again. They didn’t care and I’ve remained true to that.

Luckily Citi refunded me the purchase but the headache with my auto payments setup with the card makes me hate bestbuy even more.

Lesson learned don’t store cards with retailers
