Larry
I may have to have a full knee replacement. What I would like to know is what the down time is and how the mobility is afterwards any info would be appreciated
Water Rat
I had one done in 2011 and took a looooong time for me to recover from it. My knee was swollen like a basketball and I had all kinds of trouble bending my knee. The nurse that came to my house after the surgery rushed me back to the hospital because she thought I developed a blood clot or an infection . My knee was very hot to the touch and was told that if I can't bend it , they would send me back to the hospital and put me under to have manipulation done on it. I had physical therapy for months and my knee felt as if I had an ace bandage wrapped on it tight for years. That being said , all people recover differently as I'm sure your doctor explained it to you. I need one done on my other knee , but I don't want to go thru that again. But I have no pain and my mobility in that knee is as good as new. My wife had her knee replace and was walking 2 days later. Go figure
tommyc50
yeah i did last year 11/30/16 it cut my season short.Well physical therapy is important but man @ $25 a visit 3x aweek i couldnt do it. but i ride a bicycle so that helped. But its all up to you, i went back to work after 3 mos. they made me they threatened to stop my benefits. i had no problem with that though. Give it time in the summer i swore i regretted doing it but it took a year but im glad i did it. No pain all winter,Its a slow process
First-light
My dad had it done at 75. Nurses couldn't believe how quickly he got back on his feet. Yes it was swollen for a month but the more he did the better it felt.

Larry
I’m hoping to have it done in May if it needs to be done. so if everything goes ok I would be ready for deer season in November. I usually take all of November off from work. I have a good surgeon here in Rochester he has worked on my knee before and I trust him. One of the things I like about him is he won’t cut you unless you really need it. He told me one time I make my money doing surgery I will cut you if you want but I don’t think you need it yet. I want you to try therapy and some cord zone shots this was on my other knee and that worked

Helderberg Hunter
I had both knees replaced at the same time! Rehab was tough but well worth it. My tip to you is get to a gym and use the leg lift machine. Strengthen your thigh muscle I wish I had done so it would have made the rehab much easier. Good luck
G-Man
I have had a very good friend have both replaced a year apart. The whole key is to do the rehab and whatever the Dr tells you to do no matter how painful.. restretching ligaments and tendons is not a easy thing. But as he said well worth it. He's is now 15 years past and more mobile than he ever was

My knee was shot bone on bone so i needed a knee replacement. But some of these doctors are an assembly line in and out next . OH yeah you need a new knee just to hit the insurance co..You have good insurance they'll give you very test under the sun and milk it for all its worth. But your doctor seem very good
