Hummingbirds

Feeders up ? Only seeing males so far which usually is the norm as they establish territory. Just hung a second feeder and within 3 minutes had a taker. Love them critters.  To think they fly so far to migrate Proven fact as I did read on the web they nestle down under a goose wing and head south.

I'm with you.  Only seeing males here as well.  I was working out front a few weeks back and heard one buzz by.  He flew all the way from Panama or wherever, and wanted to know where the damn feeder was.

I have two feeders up.  The like the one in the pine tree better than the one the edge of the porch.  It confuses the heck out of the woodpeckers when I replace their suet feeder with sugar water.

They really are a marvel of Nature.

I saw two up in Quebec last week on the bear hunt. Spring came late up there and not a flower in sight. I was wondering what they were doing so far ahead of the flower blooms. One of the guys told me they eat tree sap as well and follow woodpeckers to sip the sap at their holes. After doing a bit of reading I did confirm that and found out that they actually eat insects too.

i had never seen one until a couple years ago. we were on the back deck. i thought it was the coolest thing. then this weekend we were cleaning out the garage and had one flying around in and out of the garage all around us. few right next to my face a couple times and surprised me. didn't get the best look but it was pretty green with a dark head so it might have been a male.

We have had the feeder up for a couple weeks now. We have a bunch of different ones hitting it multiple times a day. In the evening it is a heavy traffic fly zone and you could get hurt if you sit to close to it lol.
