Old Forge tame deer

It’s crazy how used to people they are.  We saw some walking right down the middle of the street.

Years ago when McDonald's was in Old Forge we were eating outside the car on the way to go camping, a couple of deer were just inside the woods and walked right up to us begging for food, for the record, they loved hash browns!

I was hoping to hand-feed a bear... it didn’t work out.  A pic of that would be worth $250

They’re mostly concerned with the residents that routinely put out copious amounts of food for them . It’s a hot topic there,never heard of a tourist getting fined .

That sign was in the campground... I’m sure the staff is sick of dealing with bears

I know of some guys that hunted just outside of town they came out with some dandys. Not that shoting a tame  deer is my thing but to each there own. Would seem like filling nuisance tags seeing same deer all the time till the re dead.

years ago when we vacationed there every year there were literally hundreds of deer between OF and Inlet, last couple times I’ve only seen a dozen or so. Did they cull them?

driving the sleds in the winter you'd have herds of deer in town eating on piles of hay. they didn't have a care in the world.

Joking.  But I think Id rather deal with a small bear than a large buck who decides hes sick of being taunted and photographed.

We rented a cabin in Old Forge several years ago . Deer were all over the place . Saw 5 bucks laying in a shady spot near the highway . People feed the deer right in their yards and the deer become dependent on that !
