I'm getting squirmy for Saturday opener. !! Supposed to be great duck weather - IE rain cold wet. I hope the ducks are around. Who else is going??

A younger relative is joining me for a first duck hunt. Looking forward to it.  Good luck everyone. Be safe.

I don't think there's anything quite like introducing a youngster to the joys of duck hunting. From frozen fingers to leaking hip boots to the wind pulling the semi-frozen snot out of your nose. Just kidding. Enjoy your hunt, and the time with your young relative.

I kind of wish you were kidding but those of us who have duck hunted late season know you are NOT kidding.... Sat supposed to be real feel 28, 65% chance rain and a 8MPH east wind.. Since I am facing east this will not be the most fun. But I am looking forward to the hunt with youthful zeal.  Looking forward to teaching him the term "sky busting".   !!!

Not the best opening morning. I saw one duck! Lots of geese and seagulls. I heard some shoooting but not as much as I should have.

Skunked again! I saw a nice pair of fat blacks today though at least. They were coming in but I think the damn dog squirmed so they flaired.  Out of range...  worst opening weekend in some time.  I heard exactly one very faint shot early. Nothing more.
