Robhuntandfish
No actually that was this guy below. For about 10 days he was everywhere on our property and saw him a couple of times but never in bow range. The big six seems to hang on the other side of property and last year we didn't hunt it that much cause it was so flooded. I would certainly be happy with either or something far smaller. But that 6 is just unique. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk

Robhuntandfish
Good day off. Got out to check the rifle to be sure it's still on. Gotta love one shot and done! Esp these days with the availability of ammo. But the 30/30 is good to go. Then went to the Amish store for some sausage spices. Then out to hunting land. Checked out plots and they are looking good. The one I planted 2 weeks ago at wayback is growing great in spots and nothing in others. So gonna seed a few spots there again. But even the ones I did just a week ago have popped. Good to see! Also got 3 stands cleared for shooting lanes and new straps on them. Clover in the trails also looks great from our frost seeding. Then shot the xbow and that is on and ready! Was planning tomorrow to put in our last little plot but the farmer cut it all and we have to wait for them to bail it now. So hopefully they do that today or tomorrow so we can get that in Sunday. Looks like 4 days of rain after and it would be perfect. Robhuntandfish
Corey and I went fishing this morning and had one walleye hit and a sunfish. We were off the water early. August is usually tough for eyes for me. We should've went bass fishing! So put together my duck blind idea. Took some 6ft stakes and cut another 15" piece to angle the top with a bolt and a wingnut. This way can give us more cover and also just break it all down to carry. I made 6 stakes but really only need 4 so I guess we have some spares. Will hopefully be able to try it out in Dec duck season. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk
Lawdwaz
I forget, are you hunting the early goose season?? Heck, is that still on the books in NYS?
Robhuntandfish
I forget, are you hunting the early goose season?? Heck, is that still on the books in NYS?Not planning on it. Not going to go til the late duck season that opens Dec 3. Last year they had 2 days of goose season in my region that overlapped with duck. They didn't do that this year, kinda sucks. So hoping the ponds are still open by then. Not gonna go in there blasting shotguns before bow season. I know some guys say it won't hurt anything but not taking the chance. Bow season is the #1 priority Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk

Robhuntandfish
Last and biggest plot in. Worked out perfectly. The farmer cut the area Fri and got done bailing it about 8pm last night. So we dug it up as best we can and planted. The forecast is for showers the next 4 days so hoping it takes. Now we are done til labor day weekend and will get the last 3 stands shooting lanes cleared and trail cams all out with fresh batteries and cards. And am whipped and time for breakfast. Robhuntandfish
We checked plots, changed out current cam cards, put up a few more cams, prepped the last 3 stands and did some random trimming. We are ready! Last thing is I might cut a couple of spots in trail where the swamp grass grows so high but that's it. 10 stands, 4 plots and 12 cams ready to go. 2/4 of the plots look really good at Littlefield and wayback. Other two were kinda sparse at CSS and lawn stands. The larger one we did two weeks ago at lawn stand we reseeded a few bare spots and will hope that takes. 2 of them grew really well and have lots of deer fodder growing strong. Not Lomax plots by any means but not bad for what we have to work with. Now to have breakfast and check cam cards. Robhuntandfish
Went over today and staked off plot and put up tape in case the farmer does a 3rd cut in that spot. It's growing well in some spots and spotty in others. But rather he didn't cut it all to the ground. Corey did a little trail trimming with the brush hog in swampy spots. We are done til Sept 30. Will come back that day, mid-day, and take down the stakes and pull cams. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk
Robhuntandfish
Corey and I got out fishing for a bit this morn. Just a quick trip as wanted to be off the lake as the annual "Chicken Wing Run" is today. Got checked by DEC out there today. First time i have ever been checked on Oneida my whole life. They just checked licenses and lifejackets. Prob out there killing time til the chicken wing run. I told them good luck with that and the guy says" yeah thanks they are drinking already over there.". This was at 8:30am. But got out to BS for a bit. Enjoy some time on the water before season is over. Robhuntandfish
Pulled cams today. And they are liking the food plots. Got pics of them eating it by the mouthfuls. This one little plot had 6 deer packed in it including a 6 point. A few yote pics, a blue heron, a possum, a fox, several Fishers we're among the pics. This 6 isn't a monster but it's a shooter for me. Had a spike as well but for me he gets a pass. Corey says from him he gets an arrow. Lol. Hoping in a week to get Corey a shot, drop one of the does early and wait til the big boys move in. Robhuntandfish
Went out and pulled down stakes and ribbon by plot at lawn stand. That plot is spotty. Don't see any of the winter peas we put out and some of the radish is trashed from too much recent rain. But there is sections of radish, brassicas etc out there and it looks better than the rest of the field area. Pulled cam cards and the one cam wasn't working for some reason. No pics. The other is video I will have to download. Shot the bow and it's GTG. Two small properties before hunting spot a nice buck was out chowing down in a field at 10:30 am and still there when I came back thru at 11:30. Now some ribs on the smoker and making an apple pie. Robhuntandfish
Hunt #1 dark- 9am. Pine tree stand Got out of truck with plans to hunt the closest stand at roadkill. Walked 40 yards and can see deer over by that stand in the first light. Corey and I back out and doe starts to blow at us. She does this like 12 times. Then trots up the trail with two fawns in tow. So I go over to Pine tree stand and Corey goes to wayback. Neither of us saw anything. Back out about 3pm. 30 seconds in the season and saw some deer at least.
