So got out of there without issue as it was still early. So had another picked about a 15 minute walk away. Start over there and I see 2 does standing right in front of that stand looking down the trail about 400 yards. So I back out and they have no clue. Go to another stand and get up there and my best shooting lane a limb had fallen down and is now blocking it all and I can't get it without a pole saw. So one of those nights that's just a cluster &$-#. So bailed out of there and be back in the morn with a better plan. Sent from my motorola edge 5G UW (2021) using Tapatalk I know how that goes. This dead ash tree fell down towards the end of gun season last year. It blocked any shots to the back, from the upper deck of my favorite (2-story) blind. Robhuntandfish
Hunt #14 dark -10:30. Pine tree standThe biggest Fisher I've ever seen walked at the end of the trail 100 yards away. Big boy. Then it came out on other side of property where Corey was and right under his stand at scrapetree a few minutes later Then 30 minutes later two doe come out the same way, and about 7-8 minutes after them a small buck with his nose right to the ground and trotting their trail. Nothing in range but def would have shot one of those does. The deer went the same way as the Fisher but didn't come out by Corey. Nice morn out though.Breakfast time. Robhuntandfish
Hunt #15. Scrapetree stand 3-dark. Saw and heard nothing dead calm. Corey was in Pine and had the same. Scrapetree has been unusually slow this year. At least so far. Pull some cam cards along the way and some decent bucks at night. One broken forkhorn in daylight. Looks like we have two different 8 points. I will take either one but the one is wide! Think we had a bad pic of him earlier but have a good pic now. Hoping the action gets better from here on out. Robhuntandfish
Hunt #17 roadkill stand after work til dark. Had a small doe and 2 fawns come out about 5pm from trail to my left. They got in my wind at 24 yards and got suspicious and slowly went back up the trail. They would've gotten a pass anyway. Robhuntandfish
Hunt #18. Point stand dark -11. This stand had t been hunted yet cause we haven't hardly had a W wind. Bumped two does on the way in and they went into thick stuff. Then about 150 yards down the trail is a trail intersection and about 90 yards down there a buck pops out. No tail up but I bet those does bumped him outa bed. No monster but he looked decent. He goes into thick stuff sorted headed to the stand I'm going to. Get up in stand and get settled and I hear a faint little movement across the trail...must be a red squirrel. Nope up jumps a little spike that was bedded about 30 yards away. He trots about 15 yards then leisurely walks into the brush. Sat til 10:30 and even tried some rattling at 10 but nothing. Headed out and about 1/2 back is a doe in trail at 50. I duck into the brush she has no idea I'm there. Ranged a spot at 35 if she gets to it I will have a shot. But she wanders around a bit and goes into brush. Several new scrapes in the area. Robhuntandfish
Hunt #19 CSS stand 2:45-Dark. Didn't see anything. They started cutting little corn field behind me about 4:30. Which I know the deer use at night and I am between that and bedding. Amazing how many scrapes there were on the way in. At least 7 and several of them just right to all dirt. Also a broken off sapling. Corey saw a couple of does in roadkill but couldn't get a shot. Robhuntandfish
Pulled 5 cam cards today and got some good bucks around. The big 8 is all over at night, one day pic. Also one pic of Big sixy he's still around at 4am. A decent 6 has also shown up now. Had a broken forkhorn and a spike duking it out. Looks like 2 spikes, a broken forkhorn, a little 6, a decent 6, Big Sixy, a smaller 8 and the big 8 for bucks around. As always mostly night pics. Robhuntandfish
Hunt #20. Dark -10:30 Scrapetree. Hasn't been a lot of action at this stand but the wind was right. Had best action this year. Saw three bucks. Two shooters. A small body buck comes out to my right in trail but is walking the other way. I thought it was the broken forkhorn but couldn't tell for sure. Grunted a few times at him and he turned and came right to me . I guess right to me. Realized he was a 6 pt. He was 3 ft from the stand. But he came up the only spot I couldn't shoot right along right to the treeline. He is standing in path to the stand then spooks as he must have caught a little scent as he is almost standing on my pack. I draw and he stops but then trots down trail about 40 yards. I let down and he just walks slowly the other way. Grunt at him again and he starts coming back but then ducks into woods. Small body and had standard 3 on one side then a weird crown like 3 on the other. After he left I sat down and turn to the main trail to me left to look. Is that a deer in the trail???? Yup and a decent sized body. He turns his head and in the sun I see a glint of antlers. He's about 90 yards away and prob the better 6 thats around. He might have heard my grunts and came out to look. I grunt again but he doesn't come any closer. About 45 minutes later I see a smaller deer can ming down the trail. Looks like a doe. She gets close I'm taking her. Gets to about 45 and I see it's a spike horn. He wanders around eating for about 15-20 minutes then goes back up trail. Wind changing directions so I got down and different plan for this pm stand.
