crappyice
Buddy didn’t want to mount his busted up buck so I thought I would play with a euro mount. Boiling in degreaser and removing meat first. For the whitening process, I am thinking about using regular store bought peroxide and making a paste with baking soda and painting that on instead of using gallon of straight peroxide for a soak.Any chance that works???? grampy
It may work just fine? But you will probably have to do it two or three times to get it nice and white. Boil, degrease, paint. Repeat. Once it is thoroughly degreased, that is what you are looking for. Because any residual grease will lead to yellowing. Please post pic's of your results. Nice of you to do this for your friend! That's awesome!
Engraver99
Interested in this also for my buck.was considering getting most flesh off then hanging it on fishing line and letting the birds pick off the meat and bleaching it when it eas clean. The beetle dude here wants $100+ to do one. Edited November 23, 2019 by Engraver99
crappyice
Rolling(not hard) boil in water and dish soap. Gonna just keep at it with the pliers and skinning knife as opposed to power washing. Note to self: Electrical tape does not work to keep the bases covered! grampy
Looking great so far Chris!! Use plastic wrap, then aluminum foil and zip ties for the bases. I used these type of brushes to help get it cleaned, and they worked good. I did use a power sprayer too. Just keep at it and be sure all flesh and fat is removed. And it's totally degreased. That's the key here. Here is one I did three or four years ago. Came out decent I think. Good luck my friend, you got this!

Is oxyclean a paste or liquid or powder that you make into a paste?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
johnplav
Oxyclean is powder detergent... I mix it with water and soak the skull. It doesn’t bleach but just cleans it up so it’s like a natural bone color

Hock3y24
I boil, pressure wash at car wash with soap (wear rain gear and goggles) the. Pick clean. Use 40 volume mixed with quick white from the hair store. Cover in plastic so it didn’t dry overnight. Rinse off next day and let dry in sun or by fire.

rachunter
You can get this hair bleach at Cvs mix it with peroxide to make a paste. Skull comes out shiny and clean. If you going to use regular bleach wipe the skull down with vinegar it will neutralize the bleach.
