mowin
Sitting watching TV, and I get a text from my bank asking if I made a $365.00 charge in Colorado. I responded NO... Phone rang and it was key Bank fraud specialist. They caught the charge, and denied it. A $20 charge did go through. Should get that back in a week. I asked if they could tell how it was compromised, but they can't tell. Hate crooks.
BowmanMike
Yup,happened with our credit card just before christmas. Two charges for over $1000 total were on the bill,i was shocked. It makes you feel violated..The credit card company took care of it fairly quickly,so that was good. I guess it happens all the time. Robhuntandfish
It's BS that so much of this and so many scams out there. I've had my bank deny stuff and call and ask me if I was buying it. Kind of a pain sometimes but glad they ask about. People just plain suck. Earn your own money. I always use my credit card with a very low max on it for everything on line etc , so that they can't get to my bank account. Hope that's the last problem you have. Elmo
I've had almost $3000 charged to my card. No warning. Noticed my bill was extremely high that month. Looked into it and saw I had purchased 4 plane tickets. I called it in and they investigated it. Said according to the record, it was purchased "in person" at Denver's airport. Told them that's impressive considering that I have the card with me and I'm in NYC. They refunded me the money and gave me a new card. I never lost my card yet somehow the actual card in person was in Singapore. Amex delivered me a brand new card the next morning to my hotel room. Don_C
About 15 years ago I got a call from Capital One asking if I had purchased a bull dozer for $30,000 in Nevada-two days earlier. The guy drove off with a $30,000 dozer and two days later they checked on it. I have no idea how that even worked, the limit on that card was no where near $30k. They took care of it though. nyslowhand
^^^ may also need the security # from back of card... I know my credit union Visa has a sort of regional tracker. Watches where purchases are most frequently made and contacts me if an out of that specific area charge is detected. Banks and Credit Unions are much better about these credit card "hacks" than they were ~15yrs ago. Still vividly recall fighting with my bank over a fraudulent CC charge for a PC in France. Back when eBay & PayPal weren't quite as secure as they thought they were.
