none of this makes sense. you can't even hunt "inside" a field. I bet he got lost and the operator couldn't hear him yelling or he had some sort of medical emergency pre incident. Still horrible all around.

Rough way to go to say the least, but there's no way a combine doesn't wake you up unless something else is awry such as a medical condition or drugs.
