Piebald Survived Season

[Cabin Fever]

Cam checks have been kind of boring post season, but interesting to see what survived season. Got pics of what appears to be a piebald. First time seeing this buck! Interesting that he and a spike appeared to be trailing a group of does that passed by 15min prior.

The temp tells the story.. deer have their coat fluffed to keep warm.. - 8 celcius  is pretty chilly as 32 f is 0 c. , ir cameras do wierd things at night reflection on raised fur makes things appear different, tend to see same thing in spring when fur is shedding.

Also consider that piebalds tend to be genetically inferior....Big  racks are quite unusual on piebald bucks....

 

A friend of mine took a piebald 8  point from my property a number of years ago...It was a beautiful specimen, but weighed only 100 pounds dressed and had a little 8 point basket rack....He had a full body mount  done and it is a very nice addition to his  trophy room...

Cam temp gauges are notoriously inaccurate. Wouldn't go by them ever, in any brand. Useless feature.

Ive got one near me as well. Less white than yours and appears to be a possible yearling from last yr. guessing a doe. Fun to see around and id pass them up all day long!

It’ll be interesting to see what he grows into this year. I have no desire to shoot him, but I can’t guarantee his safety if he steps out in front of my son or daughter...
