A friend of mine worked at the catholic school Lady Gaga went to while she was there. His description of her was that she was super talented back then and knew she was going to be big. Problem was, she was the quiet girl who sat in the back and got good grades. Really smart.

So what happened? His guess was that she realized being the quiet girl in the back of the room won't make her into a pop star.
