I’ve only been a member here for five years, but we definitely need an active moderator here. Someone really should reach out to to the administrator and put it to a vote for a new one.
I’m not interested in being a mod I just don’t think I’ve been here long enough to voice my opinion about it.

Online forums are being challenged for participation by other social media outlets. Some of the key forums still run well but they're pretty much already established as the online source. Car forums seem to hold weight vs say FB groups though as do pews/archery.

For example, on FB, there are 3-4 NY based forums that all have several times the membership this forum does. Granted you can't do things on there you can do on forums (IE speak about or sell certain things), but in large, the "hunting" stuff is on FB. One NY group has like 60K members and the volume of interaction is high. Now, that said, it's the wild wild west, short of the rules you can't break, but again, it has the traffic.

I've tried to be active here in past few weeks/months but I agree, it's just not what it was. Same circular people and arguments. Different day. Every once in a while a bright spot here and some key people that I enjoy interacting with. But, as time goes on, I just am not on here as much throughout the year. The in the stand threads are nice to read and engage with. I'm reminded of the "it is what it is" saying with this forum. Met some great people here so certainly valued and appreciated.

I have stated here on other threads that on another site very much like this Site's  format is a membership with just over 4,000 members.

A good 6 Moderators-( all Active) and a very active owner who posts on many threads.

That said- why not have (3) additional Moderators  for this site which is twice the size in membership?

That other forum shouldn't be compared to this one freddy. It's two different places with different people. It's not so much a lack of moderators here as it is people who have to troll the boards using more then one account just to stir the pot. People should be able to police themselves and behave like grown ups, but many on here don't so that, myself included at times.

Also a good moderator has to be non-bias and they have to follow the rules and lead by example. All members should treated equally and you can't just go after those you disagree with out of spite, which would be a huge problem with adding new moderators here. If you're going to slap jimmypeeshispants on the hand for something you best slap hankypoopants as well for the same violation. No special treatment for friends.

Instagram is another platform that's killing forums. You can make a store over there, unload video directly and have live video feeds, you have control over your own page more or less, it's Facebook with a lot more freedom as far as what you can do on your page. Its not my thing but I can understand the draw of it for many.

I expect the "Live from the woods 2021" to be created by a successful squirrel or goose hunter tomorrow, then we are off to the races!

Anyone who wants to kill squirrels, I sit out front most mornings drinking coffee about 8:30 -9:30 , and most evenings with a beer and sometimes a cigar around 6:00 .

There’s to many squirrels to count , they love the giant hickory and bury nuts in my yard and the neighbors.

Air rifle or slingshot only, I tried one of those primer only .22 shorts, but it was still a bit much , and the ground was to hard so my arrow skipped into the cops yard nextdoor .
