Nytracker
I half expected to hear them this morning as warm as it was . Everything here is still iced up except about a foot of shore ice .. creeks are ripping... trout should start moving into the tribs .

DirtTime
What in the hell do ticks have to do with peepers? Anyways, to answer the question, I believe for ticks to actually die there has to be a long cold snap of a couple weeks with temps below 10*. Deer ticks become dormant when temps get below 35* but don't die in those temps, and can become active again pretty quick once the temps get warmer. Snow on the ground can make them less active, but I've had them on me with snow on the ground before. Dog ticks and lone star ticks become dormant when the temps dip below 45* but don't die. At least that's what I remember reading about 8 years ago when I ended up with two of them dug in inside of a year and did a little reading up. Those are the three most prominent ticks we have in NYS.
