Oh look another I hate trespassers thread! I'm with Dave and WNY and all of the other folks who would seek out a reasonable solution versus calling in the National Guard. (intended sarcasm) There was an 80 year old man who used to walk across our property all the time with his equally old dog. I had never met him, although I knew he lived close by. You know what I would do each time I saw that old SOB. I would smile and wave! There is this thing called discretion. Should a person ask before entering private private? Yes of course. We also should have some sensibility about what is worth getting up in arms about and what is not.2 points

Well Doc , unlike many of the members that don't have a problem with Trespassers on their property , I would like to say that I was brought up to respect the property of others and to respect my elders . Unfortunately , I am running out of both !1 point

The free market is the only sustainable model. lets look at the crock that just came through in this health care law. It wasn't the big old bad CEO's that were the focus of this evil d'jour it was the insurance companies that were making absurd profits at the expense of the little guys. So in steps the Govt to make it all better. If they really had the inclination to make it better and fix what the insurance companies were doing why didn't they just start govt insurance as a seperate organization. offer insurance and present a product at what they feel is a resonable cost. If it was that great people would flock there and that would force the competing insurance company rates down. but they didn't becasue it isn't about insurance. It is about redistribution....providing something for nothing. If the govt could operate an organization at a break even it would be great, but they can't . Hell to post office can't do it and they had a monoploy on it for years.. Private companies should naot have manadated wages for their exec's. The govt should have nothing to say about it. The govt should also lat private companies fail with no bail outs. if the service is truely needed the void will be filled by a new company providing the service at a profit. if it doesn't it wan'st needed. fat , lazy and unproductive should not be rewared or financed and that is on a corporate or personal level.1 point

Here in the Finger Lakes, we know about phosphorus and fertilizer run-off from homes and farmland watershed properties into the lakes, and what the results are. It is a problem that threatens to turn big portions of the lakes into a salad of aquatic vegetation that even a fish can't get through.1 point

and theres still a large % of the American public that really believes the government still runs the country, and what politicians are doing is in the best interest of the public.1 point

If you let one person get away with it then everyone in the area will think its ok to come on your land without permission. My cousin just got robbed they stole 2 quads and 2 rifles. It was the neighbors borther in law. Until that point my cousin was pretty easy going about people using his land when he is not there, but no more. You have to go after trespassers the first time otherwise this could happen to you.1 point

Elmo, i fear that this statement proves that you are not thinking rationally on this subject. Your emotions and jealousy have clouded your willingness to see the dangers you are putting on a public forum. It's thinking like this that shows how powerful class warfare can be and why it is a key tactic for socialists everywhere. I love when people claim they love freedom but then start laying down their conditions to that freedom. I also love when people are more apt to believe that the government is somehow less corrupt then a private company. And what the heck is incentive based democracy? Or incentive based capitalism? And lastly, It's none of your GD business what some 60 year old has made in his lifetime and what the hell makes you think that because he might be rich, that he's still not HUMAN. What only working class people have pride? Only working class people want to prove they are worthy of climbing the mountain. Only noble workers have the desire to leave a legacy to the family they love? God programmed these things in all man's DNA so that we would fight to survive. Why would anyone purposely try to squelch that? It's dispicable. CEO's by the VAST majority are good and honest people. Show me a good and honest tyrant??1 point

I am never surprised by the gall that people have. Trespassers come with different philosophies. The horseback riders see there impact as being a nice "green" kind of low impact activity. They apparently never see the kind of ankle-twisting, pock-marked mess that they leave behind in the spring or when they are traveling through wet areas. They don't really pay much attention to the drainage erosion that results from these horse-trenches as they go up the hill. They also don't seem to mind the fact that they have a stinky kind of litter left behind for someone to step into. Then you have the motorized trespassers that figure that no one can catch them even if they do get discovered. Then you have the hunters that are absolutely convinced that deer can read posted signs and always use posted land to hide on. It's kind of "the grass is greener on the other side" sort of a syndrome. Then there are the city people who are convinced that all landowners purchased and maintain land strictly for the convenience of whoever wants to use it. Funny how they don't feel that way about their little 1/2 acre city lots. And finally, there are the vandals who enter private property for the sole purpose of destroying and/or stealing things. They welcome posted signs because it tells them where the "stuff" is located. If you live long enough on any particular piece of land, you will encounter all of these and each one of them will despise you for owning something that they do not. And each kind of trespasser will feel some sort of twisted entitlement to the use of your property and damn few of them will ever darken your doorstep asking for permission to enter your land. Why bother .....eh? Yes, it's weird, but over the years I have discovered that it's just the nature of humans and if you own property, there are plenty of people who want to help themselves to it. And they will resent the hell out of your unwillingness to simply let them over-run it as they please.1 point

So they bust you chops but let the 1000's of lawn companies with all their "Legal" workers throw down the crap every day.1 point

Born and raised in Queens. Can't wait to find work and live up north. Hassle, superfast lifestyle. I want to have a cup of coffee or beer and watch the sunset each afternoon instead of a brick wall through my window someday.1 point

I have to agree with that poster who stated that the anger about others makeing more money is driven by the government/media complex. They like to divide people and pointing the finger at people who have more than we do and calling it wrong is an easy way to gin up trouble. Keep and mind thought that there are other people who make less than you do and so they will have them poitning their finger at you and demanding that your pay is cut too.1 point

Private companies executive pay has nothing to do with our economy.. It's purely sour grapes. What publicly traded companies pay their executives is up to the board, and to a larger extent their share holders... Remember the American people own these big companies through stock... If shareholders actually gave a shit what the CEO made, they'd sell the stock if they disagreed with it (reference Rite AId).. The executive pay bullshit is propaganda rhetoric coming out of the White House, to try and create class warfare, with the end goal of expanding government, and turning our Limited government into a socialist style European government. (which if you read the news isn't really all that exciting is it?) Turn off MSNBC and do some reading1 point

Voting for Democrats is voting for more gun control, period! There is no way to deny they have given us every anti-gun law on the books and are not nearly satisfied with what exists now. They have made their intention known, for elimination of the 2nd Amendment and all gun rights, numerous times. You may like what they do in other areas (because you have been fooled) but if you vote for them, you will see attacks on gun rights.1 point

Bubba you are as stupid as you look, when did I condone it? Same old crap on here I guess, its better to go for blood then it is to actually talk to your neighbors and it is ok for some of you to do the same thing as kids but thats because the other generations were so much better and never did anything bad growing up. What a crock of s$&@! If a kid rides his bike through the woods on a trail one time I don't think we need to warm up the electric chair. Christ allmighty you guys are uptight. The funniest thing is if Ted Nugent breaks a law you run to his support but a kid on a bike needs the sherrif called on him. Doewhacker out!1 point

So when you broke the law and trespassed it was ok but its not for these kids? ok got it. I read all of you preach about getting kids involved in the outdoors all of the time, did any of you stop to think maybe these two have an interest and just maybe it would be better to try and teach them instead of throwing them in the proverbial slammer? If it were me I would try to find out who they are and offer to mentor them and maybe take them hunting and teach them about the outdoors and posted signs. Life is to short to get all fired up over two kids exploring the woods, don't any of you remember being kids once?1 point

Well think Mountain Men last night just killed it. You had the Eustuse guy in NC, tell one of the people he teaches to go sight his rifle in, and only gives him 4 bullets to do it with. So Eustuse, goes out hunting and shots at a deer and wounds it, saying the gun misfired (really misfire LOL) and blaming the guy that sighted it in.He finds bone and puts it in his mouth, then finds little specs of blood and tracks the deer till dark and then quiets. Sorry a gun should be sighted in by the person that is going to use it.1 point
