You don't want those deer on your property, I mean realy think of all the sleep you'll loose just before the opener. Have the dec tranquilize and relocte them to 6k. I'll throw in a 6-pack.2 points

Well you know how they tell you to "pick a spot" when aiming? It's a little easier on these.2 points

"Hi, I am Bob and I would like to shoot a big antlered buck every year"...lol. I guess admitting it is half the battle2 points

Soon we'll be taking to the woods with stands in hand or on the way to a stand ...for us "sky hunters" ...Just a reminder safety first...check every thing well in advanceAND before assending or stepping onto a platform... I had a service guy stick a "bee" in my head...a story of his 45 yr old buddy that fell just turning around to descending his ladder ...in a chair now..with a "you never know you could get hit by a car crossing the road" I have not only checked ...re-strapped ...chained and used heavy nylon rope as a back up to ladderstands and home built...but I just bought 40 ft... and will buy more... of 1/2 in nylon rope and will be attaching climbing line to some stands...got to get that pursic knot down...I have a hook system I made a few years ago that I attach to the front of my harness...a length of strong rope with a deep, coated hook attached at the end... I hook on a rung above me... climb ...rehook ... climb So just be careful every one...can't get my guys to listen but I know you will...be safe1 point

I have eaten crow FIGURATIVELY several times, but never LITERALLY.. Kinda like possum...I have seen the rotten stuff they eat..I suppose they are no worse than a pig or a chicken, though..Both will eat most anything. If you want to try them, I have seen recipes on the net in crow hunting forums and other sources.1 point

Ive had to ward off a few beavers that I figured might be rabid in the past. Never had one put me in the hospital though. Usually a quick trip to the Dr was all it took to feel better.....1 point

Forgot my ammo once, too late to turn around, I spent the rest of the morning playing "catch & release" deer hunting. Took my son to the range the last weekend, brought 4 rifles, but only remembered the .22 ammo. You'd think I'd have learned by now.1 point

Summary from the file Larry posted: Summary: *The pilot AR program substantially reduced the proportion of yearling bucks in the harvest, and harvest composition shifted to older bucks. *The number of 2.5+ year old bucks in the harvest has increased since implementation of ARs. However, the increase has not fully compensated for the reduction in yearling harvest, and total buck take has generally remained >20% below pre-AR levels. WMU 3H was the only unit where total buck take has returned to the level immediately prior to AR. *A shift in sex ratios of deer observed in the pilot AR units was apparent, though a similar shift was observed in neighboring units without ARs. *ARs had no effect on hunter participation for the majority of hunters, but overall participation by non-local hunters appeared to decline because of AR. *The impact of ARs on hunter satisfaction was mixed. Satisfaction with buck-hunting was generally higher in the pilot AR units than the surrounding region, but similar increases in buck-hunting satisfaction were observed in the surrounding region as occurred within the pilot area. More hunters in the pilot AR area reported being satisfied than dissatisfied with the level of protection afforded to young bucks and with the level of safety they felt in the pilot area. However, a majority of hunters reported being dissatisfied with (1) the number of antlered bucks compared to antlerless deer seen, (2) the number of older, larger-antlered bucks seen, (3) their opportunity to shoot larger-antlered bucks, and (4) the number of older bucks compared to the number of young bucks seen. Seems like a mixed bag at best. Certainly not the overwhelming success with majority reception that a few claim it is.1 point

Because they can drive you freaking crazy with all the racket they make...they harass other birds...They are a great alarm system for deer and they eat crops...other than that they can be a challenge ...but...they do eat grubs...a good thing I would like to know why those days as well...1 point

Love these threads! I had an encounter one night, coming out I had to cross a stream over a downed log. I get half way and from the other side here comes a porky. I shouted at him and stomped my foot he did not care I was movin not him. I had to back off log or fight him so I backed off. Had another time at the old house I had one spot I would sneak to before light for first watch. I had to cross some flooded timber about 40 yards of it or so. I could just do it by sliding my feet as the water came to about an inch from the tops of my rubber boots. It is pitch black out and with my lttle light I am about halfway across when a whole flippin flock of turkeys about 6 feet above my head spook and start flying evrywhere bouncing off everything. At first I did not realize what was happening and scared the bejeezus outa me and yes I landed on my a$$ in the water. That sucked!1 point

Nice to have left over deer meat this time of year. You don't realize how much u rely on the meat until a lean year pops up. Then u really miss it.1 point

He is the only guy I know that is afraid of cows so it made it all the better for me to laught at after. He was upset with me and my Dad the time we were imitating a calf's bawl to get the cows to come closer on the way out of the woods, same fields to..hehe1 point

I was approaching the ladder to my stand one morning and my flashlight catches 2 sets of glowing eyes at the base of the tree. Two of the biggest racoons I have ever seen were standing there, refusing to run away. We had a standoff for about two minutes until they decided to run up the tree that MY STAND was in. Lets just say I waited on the ground until it got light that morning.1 point

Lol ... Trolling for some controversial arguments??? Sorry, not biting. I really don't get involved in bashing someone's religion. I'd rather concentrate on hunting, fishing and trapping issues.1 point
