114lb 4 point first dear in 3 years shot at 7:15 am. I wasn't gonna go out after I went out to check the weather because it was so cold but somehow I got my hunting clothes on on the way back to bed. I'm glad I did. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk.6 points

Why not just make hunting hours dawn plus an hour then 1 hour before dusk until dark... or better yet lets just skip the daylight hours and just hunt at night so we can catch the deer when they're moving around? Plus wouldn't it be much easier to do away with the guns and just use explosives... then we could just bomb the woods and go pick up deer after the explosion... anything to make it easier. Makes no sense to have to beat the deer at their own game by trying to outsmart them. I think all these rules and regulations are just put in place to make us actually have to hunt deer instead of just be able to shoot on when ever we want... stupid laws!!3 points

Shot this doe tonight at 4:25. She was hauling A$$ towards me thanks to my neighbors!2 points

Mostly quiet in 4A... story to tell though. Shot a nice 6pt that had been very badly shot. A Guy on a ridge behind me shot him, broke his back near where it meets the pelvis. The damn deer was trying so hard the get up and run, but could only drag himself 10-15 yards then catch its breath and try again and again. Then he started bleating! I had enough and shot him. The other guy took the deer.2 points

You cant judge a whole program by a few bad apples. If they did that, there would be no hunting seasons at all. Honestly you can coulda woulda shoulda all day, doesnt make a difference. The proof is in the pudding.2 points

My father shot this fine 9-pointer at 7:48 this morning. This is our second 9 off this property this year, its certainly been good to us. I firmly believe that clean exit and entry routes, hunting the right winds, and lightly hunting this property has attributed to our success on this farm. Happy hunting guys!1 point

I took my 16 year old nephew to Letchworth Park today. He got his first deer about 10 minutes after legal shooting time started with his grandfather's very old J.C. Higgins smooth bore 12 gauge pump.He missed the first shot but hit him on the second, the deer went about 200 yards with no blood trail.I am so happy we found him! Picture is from a phone. It was a 6 point buck.1 point

She came out with her girlfriend about 7:15. They walked around for about 1/2 hr. I was waiting to see if their boyfriend would come out but he didn't so after she presented a broadside shot at about 100 yds. I put the crosshairs on her and squeezed the trigger. She ran maybe 20 yds and dropped. The picture shows the exit hole. This afternoon im going for the boyfriend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk1 point

Got in my favorite stand nice and early, settled in and took my hour nap as I waited for the sun the rise. At 6:30 I get a text from the wife that says our youngest is puking and has diarrhea. Told her I would be back at 7:30 to help out (1/2) mile walk to my stand. Just packed up and was ready to unload the gun when I heard rustling in leaves. Look up through the wall of fog and make out a deer 40 yards away. Perfect! Put the scope on it, flat head, even better. Turn off safe and squeeze...click! She trotted off. Dumbass...shoots better with bullet in chamber. Oh well. She wasn't spooked at least.1 point

I got out in the woods nice and early this morning...next thing you know I had 3 other people withing 150 yds of me. I was smack dab in the middle of them and didn't like the thought of getting shot so I was back in my truck by 7:15. Sitting home driking coffee now. Sounds like a fricken warzone!!! First shots of the morning were 6:23. Someone is blazing away across the road as I type this. Now someone behind the house is letting loose...1 point

I have 3 stands set up along the edge of woods/cut corn field from patterning their travels based on routes / time of day. sitting in the morning stand, watched 3 doe come out of the standing corn next field over and walk within 30 yards of the evening stand heading for the pines. A few shots heard before sun-up, but for the most part quiet. I can remember 10-15 years ago shooting all morning. Neighbors have a domestic turkey who keeps reminding me of spring turkey season. Unfortunatly, I think his days are numbered, and after Thursday I won't be hearing him anymore. Good luck to everyone out there and be safe. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I927 using Tapatalk 21 point

My 6 year old will be with me tomorrow evening in our double stand. The 2 year old is shooting the deer on the covers of magazines with his nerf gun. I think that's good, right?1 point

That's my point arrow nocker. It never fails that every year on opening day shots ring out all around me and I'm being the good guy and waiting to be legal because NYC does whatever they can to make deer hunting difficult.1 point

give em 15 they take 30.Wait till saturday morning and saturday night. No one cares about "legal" shooting hours.Banging away at 6:15.and crap.Barely see and banging away. disclaimer:not everyone but quite a few.More not obeying the law than are.1 point

People can throw brands and models all day long, but it doesnt mean squat. Get him to a couple of pro shops and have him shoot as many different ones as he can. Just make it into some fun, and he will let you know which one he really likes, then go out and buy it for him. You dont want to end up buying a bow that doesnt work well for him just because someone on a forum said "such and such a brand is the best thing out there."1 point

Since my area has gone to rifle, rather than shotgun only, I hear MUCH less shooting, and instead of the 5 round volleys that used to be the norm, most of the time I hear single shots. Safety wise, switching to rifle is the best thing that has happened in this area in the 45 years I have been deer hunting. Sighting through a scope sighted rifle is much safer than spraying shotgun slugs all over the countryside.1 point

Sounds like this Larry's operation is horrible. Everybody should just boycott this guy and he will go out of business.1 point
