  1. Since I missed out on the full weekend sausage making marathon with my friends back in February, I thawed out my venison and started on my snack sticks. Yesterday morning I ground everything up, mixed the spices and cubed up a couple of blocks of sharp cheddar cheese, and put it all in the fridge. Tonight after work, I mixed the cheese into the meat and stuffed it into the casings. Heres the result, batch one of snack sticks, ready for the smoker tomorrow night. The second batch will get stuffed tomorrow. Not sure If Ill use cheese in those or not yet.

  2. A toothpaste factory had a problem. They sometimes shipped empty boxes without the tube inside. This challenged their perceived quality with the buyers and distributors. Understanding how important the relationship with them was, the CEO of the company assembled his top people. They decided to hire an external engineering company to solve their empty boxes problem. The project followed the usual process: budget and project sponsor allocated, RFP, and third-parties selected. Six months (and $8 million) later they had a fantastic solution - on time, on budget, and high quality. Everyone in the project was pleased. They solved the problem by using a high-tech precision scale that would sound a bell and flash lights whenever a toothpaste box weighed less than it should. The line would stop; someone would walk over; remove the defective box; and then press another button to re-start the line. As a result of the new package monitoring process, no empty boxes were being shipped out of the factory. With no more customer complaints, the CEO felt the $8 million was well spent. He then reviewed the line statistics report and discovered the number of empty boxes picked up by the scale in the first week was consistent with projections. However, in the next three weeks, there were zero empty boxes! The estimated rate should have been at least a dozen boxes a day. He had the engineers check the equipment, they verified the report as accurate. Puzzled, the CEO traveled down to the factory; viewed the part of the line where the precision scale was installed; and observed that just ahead of the new $8 million dollar solution.... sat a $20 desk fan blowing the empty boxes off the belt and into a bin. He asked the line supervisor what that was about. "Oh, that," the supervisor replied, "Bert, the kid from maintenance, put it there because he was tired of walking over every time the bell rang."

  3. I bet lawyers are the #1 profession by volume on this site. No joke. Doesn't all the whining reflect it? LOL.

  4. It's getting to the point where it might be useful to set up a spread-sheet or some kind of document to keep track of the creeps that we have to vote out in the next election. But whatever it takes, we have to remember who must go ..... besides Andrew "Crazy-eyes" Cuomo.

  6. Another example of how the government lies, and the media swears to it. They are working together to destroy any part of America they don't agree with.

  12. Those two calibers seem to be popular with deer hunters who dont want all the recoil but still want the flat shooting rounds.

  14. I had already bought some crawlers from Wallyworld to use opening day of trout season, because it has been too durn cold to collect my own.. Well, tonite's rain and above freezing temps had them out slithering around, so I went out and picked up about 3 dozen to use tomorrow..It just seems PROPER to collect one's own bait, if one is able...They are generally an ideal size for trout this time of year, too...Big enough to tempt a big old snaggletoothed brown trout, but not TOO big.. I'll put the STORE BOUGHT worms in my beer/bait fridge in the garage, and use them another time..

  18. Speaking of decimated. Aren't we overdue for someone to claim that the coyotes have decimated the deer herd? It's usually right after the season ends. One of my pet peeves.

  20. I am sure you heard that the US government spent 7.6 million dollars to develop a pen that would write upside down to be used in the space program. A 6th grader visitor to the white house asked President Dumbo, why dont you use a pencil? Dumbo then suspended tours of the White house.

  23. I'm slowly loosing interest in spring gobbler hunting. The increase in hunters, decrease in available land to hunt, distance to hunt, price of fuel and early rise of dawn has knocked some of the luster off of it. The TV shows with guys hunting out of blinds with freaking dekes that wobble, twist and spin with REAL feathers on them shooting birds that come running in by the handful. The NWTF boys and the BS that they are always pushing in the name of "conservation" has also dulled the passion I had years ago. Heck I still get a kick out of it but and do enjoy the kill but it ain't like it was 20-25 years ago, IMO. Jeez, I don't know where THAT rant came from............Sorry Joe!!
