  1. Supposed to say 5/14/13, 2 years ago i killed on 5/13 so that's a typo. But as far as my measuring skills i see it as, 4.5 inch beard with 1/4 inch spurs. Sorry i know the pic quality isn't great, darn cell phone camera. Thanks for letting me enter!

  2. Well, I finally got around to wrapping up the euro of my last dead buck find. My last hike I grabbed an old rough cut plank from an old abandoned stand site and brought it home for my plaque. One knotty section I really liked in this board that I really hoped I could make it work with what I was doing. Nothing fancy here. I just cut my shape with a jigsaw, sanded the snot out of it, and sprayed it with a good coat of Krylon semi-gloss satin finish. Here you can see the wood grain around the knot I was after. It looks like this hunk o' lumber was made for this skull. Since I wanted to do some sort of raised table mount display I needed to add some feet. I used a couple of antlers me and Red cut off a dead buck this winter while shed hunting and they worked out great! For now I just have them Super-Glued on, but I'll have to set a couple screws through the front even though it's pretty solid. Then I cut some pieces from an old bicycle tire tube and glued them on the antler tips and the front edge of the plaque so it doesn't slide all over the place. Here's a look from behind.. That's all she wrote! I gotta putty the nail hole in the front of it and drill the legs, but here's the finished product for the most part! Total cost of $7 for the can of clear coat and tube of glue.

  4. For the past 10 tears I have kept all my hunting stuff and Bow shop in a spare room in the house.Last summer I started on my new area. Finally it is done.12'x 16' just the right size. All built on a tight budget. I had to purchase the lumber and roofing the rest was free or cheap. All the insulation came from the local appliance store 1" ridgid foam 5" in the cieling and 3" in the walls. The plywood for the cabinets is 1/2 " all from a friends roof tearoff. After all these years somewhere I can keep all my gear without fear of my wife " cleaning up my area "

  5. This is just not true. You do NOT need a nuisance permit to kill a Coyote out of season. If a Coyote is damaging any property (killing or THREATENING to kill live stock is just one example) then they may be taken on the spot, year round, and without a permit what so ever. This is in the State of New York of course. I know a sheep rancher and he is always calling me to come over and thin the Coyote number as they average killing 2 sheep per week. Before i started, i called a local DEC Officer to make sure i was legal. He told me as long as the Coyote''s are killing or threatening to kill the livestock and i have the land owner permission, then i was legal. I check the regulations just to double tap and it verrified what he told me.

  6. Yup! I have about 30lbs left between the two I took last season. Told the wife last night, I need to get three this coming year to make sure we have enough for the year. She looked at me and said, "Yeah right! Get one and then we'll see about the other two."

  11. My disgust is with the people who are supposed to be on our side and that is these dealers. You would think out of anybody they would be the ones interested in trying to preserve our rights and help with the matter instead they are putting their tail between their legs and giving customers attitude because they are losing business. They also are not taking proper measures to properly interpritate the new laws. I finally found someone yesterday that gave me the time of day. He is a private custom arms manufacturer who seems to have kept himself well informed on all the new laws and he has agreed to help me out with a transfer. It was a relief to speak to someone educated and willing to help out a law abiding conusmer.

  12. We are already getting to the point of the NY season where things start to diminish. Our season starts about 2 weeks too late here in NY.

  13. I'm hit or miss on the show itself and never really got into the Duck or Buck Commander shows either, but you do realize darn near all of them are highly educated? Look like, talk like, act like hillbillies? Yes...but they're also very educated and well-versed businessmen. I suspect they know more about the finer things in life than most regular people do.

  17. I was reading online how the Feds overstepped with regard to the Tea Party, Associated Press, etc. The IRS is evidently the attack dog for the President. ...And I am supposed to believe they won't come knock on my door when they learn I own firearms. Nope, that info is gonna be held in the strictest confidence. I have nothing to worry about!

  20. My lawn is natural! I hate yard work and mowing!! I have a huge lawn it tales me almost 2 hours on the Scag just to mow it and another hour to weed whack it. I got pretty dandelions, crab grass, clover, wild strawberries and a zillion other kinds of weeds in it. Heck you may even find some real grass there! I can not wait till it gets burned out and stops growing and the fall when the leaves fall to smother it!! I would rather be fishing, hunting or poking needles in my eyes than lawn work!! lol

  21. Very nice!! I'm not sure if you just put your guns there for display for the pictures but I don't know if I would keep my guns in there permanently . . . especially with the windows . . . it's an invitation for a broken window and missing guns among other things.

  22. you don't want to spend the money but a Tight Spot is awesome. otherwise I've got Alpine Sof-loc quivers on my bows. They work good and aren't light but aren't overly heavy either. They're around $50. removable foam partial insert and two gripping points for shooting mechanicals if need be. rubber attachment so it's silent and kills vibration. solid mounting too unlike some mechanical mounting systems.
