  3. And anyone who cannot see a crossbow is archery equipment is arguing for the sake of arguing. Or anyone who cannot see that it is far easier to be hunting proficient with a compound device than a recurve is arguing for the sake of arguing. And blah, blah, blah, blah.

  5. I ran across a great deal on a set of laminated stocks for my Encore, so I traded the previous owner some smoked venison sticks and a few pieces of old green paper for them. I think it looks great!

  6. First let me start off by saying I have been following this site for about a year or so now, but this is my first real post. As a little introduction I am 24 and have only been hunting for a few years ( parents didn't hunt). I am also a full time nurse practitioner student so I don't have much time dedicated to anything other than that. About a month or so ago I noticed another post about a no till experiment and I was inspired to give it a try. The spot I chose has some history to me. Out of the 90 acres I have to hunt, only about 10 acres of it is hardwoods, with the rest being farmed fields (soybeans), and 30 or so acres of thick brush that acts as bedding areas for most of the deer on the property. Last year I Spent the majority of my bow season trying to out smart a fairly nice 10 point. The opportunity I was giving was in the block of hardwoods. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get a shot because of bushes and branches being in the way. This is pretty much what it looked like before I started clearing out the area. This year I decide to clear it out and plant Whitetail Institute secret spot in hopes that I may be able to draw that deer in for another opportunity. On a side note I never got an trailcam pic of this deer last year, but I did find half of his rack in the shed hunting season. Not the best picture but it is all I have at the moment. G2 and G3 are 9.5" and 10" respectively. Any way so about 3 weeks ago I cleared out all the bushes and small trees, until it was bare dirt and look like this. I sprayed round up on all of the small weeds and waited a week, then spread out a 50lb bag of pulverized lime, and a 25lb bag of 10-10-10. I know I should have probably done a soil test but I don't have a lot of time to really dedicate to prep work so I just tried my best to do what I can ( full time student and full time work). Then about two weeks ago I planted the secret spot before all the rain was due and then checked back only 3-4 days later and already started to see a small amount of growth. I have a trailcam placed over the plot since I was last there (10 days ago or so). I cant wait to check back this weekend to see how much progress it has made and hopefully what visitors I may have. p.s. thanks to whoever had that original post about the no til experiment, I wouldn't have thought about this option without you!

  7. Started brush hogging an older pasture on our property that has a good source of food already. Its about 3 acres and there are some decent apple trees, cherry trees, walnut, and alfalfa/timothy/clover already there so for now I'm just working on mowing and pruning. I think it has good potential for killing a good buck since its located between my corn field and soybean field and i believe would act as more of a staging area. It's also adjacent to a primary bedding area. This spot would be ideal for morning hunts primarily as it should be more favorable for the wind. I'll try to get a few pics up.

  10. Police Officers put up with a lot of crap, but this law is too subjective and laws against obstructing justice or interfering with a police officer are already in place and sufficient. I cant see how this can be a good idea.

  22. Abortion should be a right of the woman/ Family involved, As well as being able to take ones own life, We live in a country where we say we are free but we are far from it, I just don't care if a woman chooses to abort a fetus, Or keep it, Its not mine or anybody else's decision to make except the mother, I think that everybody should just shut up mind their business and go on with their own lives, Protesting at a clinic that offers a service that has to be hard for a woman to choose to have already is inappropriate. To have people complain about the terms of the abortion is just as crazy, who are we to decide whats good for another person, Sick, healthy, i dont care its not my business its theirs, Its should be a right that is not infringed upon, And if old Johny down the road is of sound mind and still would like to end his life why should i care, Its not my business, Pay up front and good luck JMHO

  24. http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/05/nyregion/cuomo-womens-rights-plan-may-hinge-on-abortion-proposal.html?_r=0 "The language about abortion in the measure is spare: five sentences at the end of a 59-page bill. The sentences would guarantee a woman’s right to an abortion as established by Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that legalized the procedure. The measure would secure a right to late-term abortions when the health of the pregnant woman is at risk or when the fetus is not viable, as determined by a doctor." Im no fan of Cuomo, but unless that article is misrepresenting the facts, it doesnt sound like anything will be legal that isnt already. Am I missing something?
