  1. No problem reusing the sabots and bullets that you pushed thru. The ramrod doesn’t hurt them like the powder charge does when it goes off.

  2. Well the late Canada Goose season started the day after Christmas and we got out for the first 2 days. There were 4 of us and we got 7 birds the first day and 4 on the second day. As usual the labs had the most fun. We took my son's black lab Gunner the first day and my yellow lab Waylon the second day. Here's some pics of some retrieves.

  3. The state wants the fewest amount of ffl's in business as possible. The harder it is for us to buy guns and ammo, the better these leftists like it.

  4. I’d save those for the range.

  5. Who are we to complain about this ? NY has always been one of the richest states in the Country. Tis better to give than to receive. I am thankful that our governor has given us this golden opportunity to spread some of our hard-earned wealth amoung some of the less financially fortunate states. I’m really looking forward to visiting some of those little mom and pop gun shops in southern PA, MD, and VA over the next few years. At the same time, she has made it more difficult for criminals here to get ammunition for their guns. She should consider running for national office. The country is badly in need of such a forward thinking leader with a proven track record of results.

  7. Decided to go to mY blind cause it’s still drizzling here. Bout 10 deer in the field on my way in. They didn’t even move. Bout 200 yards from me. Semi urban area.

  8. I pity you NYS folks and all the BS you have to deal with. Crock of feces.

  9. The problem is when you do a NICS check for the first time, they have no info in the database on you, so they have to check more sources for the first time. This is why they delay your sale. Once you are approved the first time, future sales refer them to the prior approval and it becomes faster. Personally, I am not ever going to buy any ammo in NY, because they are using the info to set up an unconstitutional registration data base of everyone that ever buys ammo in NY. They may already have an unconstitutional registration data base on everyone who ever did a NICS check for a gun in NY, but that is illegal by law and they don't know about guns that were transferred in the past without any FFL involved or a NICS check being done. They want everyone on their radar. That can only be for one reason. Future confiscation.

  10. I heard the party of banning is now looking to ban Gortex fabric in NY, it does not biodegrade over time so it is a hazard. Al

  11. That’s why you got to drive a little further to find the best deals. Just north of the MD border is where the bargains are.

  13. I started having ammo sent to my sons house a few years ago when I couldn't find slugs. I found the slugs I needed online so I had them sent there and he brought them up for me. so now I just have stuff sent to him or I buy stuff when I'm traveling out of state. there's are no check points to enter the state.

  15. Years back, wet pellets taught me a real lesson on a keeper in a freezing rain event. That's the breaks one takes muzzle loading hunting. It's not as fun telling the story, with the story not hanging on the wall.

  16. Depends, do you feel lucky ? If you have a removable breech plug, I would recommend removing that and pushing them out. You can save them for later use on the target range. For hunting, I would prefer to know that my powder charge has not been compromised, with any moisture.

  17. I unload on wet afternoons, like yesterday. Clean the barrel and gun, reloading for the next hunt on my way out. The money spent on a few sabots and powder don't warrant losing a shot at a keeper.

  18. I have used both a revolver (Colt Python)and rifles (Marlin 94 & Henry single shot)chambered in 357 mag to hunt and take Deer, my ranges have been around 50 to 100 yards. All ammo was handloaded and my favorite 357 bullet weight is 140 grain either a Speer HP or Hornady XTP. There is a substantial gain in performance when firing a 357 cartridge out of a rifle, a well placed shot out of either revolver or rifle gives good results and a clean kill. Al
