More Good News For NY
Kmartinson replied to Steve D's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
All politicians are bums. Stop letting this broken system keep us at odds with eachother. In reality I bet we are all alot closer in principles than you realize. All the woman and men on this sight are probably pretty moral good humans. It is politics and government policy that keep us divided, not even our actual position and views of the world. I see everyone on here capable of helping and even loving eachother, why are we so quick to attack eachother over mild differences of opinion. -
Awsome set! I only see a couple dropped on cam also, but I'm with you, it's happening soon!

Recommend me a fall annual
Kmartinson replied to Five Seasons's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
Geese love oats, good or bad they pound em. Rye is great, brassica seem like a good choice too. Turnips and beets keep em coming late. -
Who's ready? Anyone pick up a freshy yet? I'm on mile 7, can't wait to find the first one of the year.

Our flocks are thriving, i see multiple flocks over 20 birds each, and a couple smaller Batchelor groups of larger birds also. We are on the fringes of a small city with some private protection zones. I do however think the biggest Predator to the turkeys on our lease is the growing population of fisher cats. I have seen multiple fishers around roost trees the last few springs. I suspect they climb up the trees as well as attack the nests. I have sent my take home trapping test in hopes of taking a stab at them next season. To protect our flock we usually take 1 bird from our lease and try to get 1 bird from public land. We also have a few kids that come for youth season.

I went to my local army navy in Auburn during beginning of gun season, it was awesome as usual. It was pretty cool to learn that quite a few hunters had stopped in to purchase these shoulder straps with pads. I opted for the whole Alice back pack and waist belt set up to really make long walks as comfortable as possible. The padded shoulder straps are completely removable from the pack and simply attach to the stand just like the muddy straps or any other ones made for tree stands specifically, the added bonus is that they are really cheap and padded. I also grabbed some military pouches that clip onto my belt so I'm using those to carry in the extras. Mine set up is for my hang on, I'm sure it would work on my summit also.

Lol, that's just great. Now we really have seen it all. Always happy when they get someone doing it dirty. I live pretty close to cortland, it's kind of a strange place. The public land closest to me is also 15 minutes out of cortland and unfortunately it's pounded by poachers and outlaws.

Kmartinson replied to UpStateRedNeck's topic in General Chit Chat
We have our own path to follow now. Luckily, I find myself with my kids doing the things I used to do with my buddies. I'm also fortunate to have such an amazing supportive wife. -

My axis with trigger upgrade is pretty good shooter. Definitely no complaints. Had some longer shots with it last couple seasons. -

ESSAY: Unfollowing Hunting Social Media will make Hunting Better
Kmartinson replied to left field's topic in General Hunting
I agree, these exact thoughts made me switch up my insta. page. I dont post kills anymore on ig. I removed them. It's not what it's about for me now. Seeing all of this negativity in regards to the kill has changed how I feel. It's about the adventure. It's about the time with friends and family, and it's no longer about the kills. If you are a good person that I want in my personal space then you will see the trophies I am proud of. All the things I share now are hopefully to help others enjoy thier time hunting, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. -

I didnt know this is what happened, I could see a change in meat eater and wired to hunt. Dan from 9 fingers chronicles was outed at the same time and I even complimented him on his desire to keep it real in the hunting world. Thank you for the info. Really shows in the programming not just the advertising. -

I thought you guys were saying Steves brother was anti 2a? His outward opposition in that podcast makes it seem like they aren't necessarily on the same page. I stopped following meateater sometime after it blew up and started taking corporate sponsors and over embellishing its social media accounts. I was told I may like this podcast episode so I listened to it. I dont actually care either of thier opinions. I also know that guys who spend thier life posting on here are not threatening my hunting or fishing opportunities. You can't kill em from the couch. I learn alot from what is shared on here, and I appreciate that everyone shares. The thing about forums is that it's difficult to have a conversation without everyone getting so worked up. I guess it's my fault for engaging in this hoping to learn something when in reality I'm not informed enough to comment. Much like the other posts I've tried to comment on in the past I guess many of the members just want to feed thier rhetoric and not share thier ideas. -

As far as social media goes, it definitely helps my hunting. I learn something new all the time between this forum of you fine ladies and gentlemen, and ig. Im sure there are great things to learn on the other forums as well. -
I like putting larger roasts in the smoker for 3 hours first and getting a little bark on the outside before transferring it to the crock pot. Onions and peppers at the end til cooked but not mushy. Can be served over rice or on rolls. To avoid the bland consistent flavors try adding the spices after is done cooking.

Makes sense. This kinda makes me want to start grinding!!!

I would think over ground possibly or too much fat. 225° is a good temp internal temp 165°+ is safe. I dont know much about liverwurst but you could read a little about it and see what the major differences are jn the process to avoid it. 155 is a little danger zone I would hate to see you get sick, not sure if smoking it again would do anything negative. Good luck ?

First of all, everyone is supposed to be here for the same reason, hunting and the outdoors. All of our options are terrible. It's like arguing over who is the best of terrible. Why waste your time fighting, and why even vote, your vote doesn't matter they are all rich politicians who don't care about you as individuals. They just have different ways of taking your money and making you think the other side is dirty. A scary thought is what if everyone truly stood together for the people, unified. That would scare all of those bums.

In between the panes.... it doesn't matter just my experience.

You can use a trash pump and flood the pond when it starts to ice up and keep the pond open for a while after all the other water freezes up too
