  1. Any time. Hope your healing up well.
  2. You cannot hunt ducks and deer at same time at least during archery. Ducks do have potential contamination there have been many studies you can find.
  3. You can make lines and singles. I have used everything possible to weight them down. Texas rigs for shallow water, deep lake water needs heavy weights. There are special sheetwater decoys for flooded ag. Sky is the limit. Scouting is the most important imo. When you set up your spread mimic what you see where you see it. Then calling is important also, just respond what you hear, and just like all calling you should practice year round. Don't get heavy with the call, you have to save something for the 2nd 3rd and 4th pass. Lol
  4. The windows are not sealed anymore and are contesting internally.
  5. Every firearms season. We did a handful this year as usual and crushed em.
  6. Come with me anytime. It's a riot. It lines up on days you may not want to sit in a tree also. Tastes great and you can do it while catching up with friends.
  7. He's definitely not anti 2a. He's stressed about public land presure that comes from social media. There's a great holiday meateater podcast that they have a nice family argument about this.
  8. White hots are pretty clean also. Can still shoot your mzl. Without buying a smokeless rifle.
  9. Seemed like usual for me. November 4 til 11 is always hot. Saw 17 bucks killed my pb On the 10th, second time in my life. If you like rut hunting central NY that's the week to be out.
  10. I work hard to kill public land deer, but I hunt it. 25,000 acres and for October I never see a soul. I usually also have at least 1 encounter with potential to kill a deer in gun season also. I also have 3000 acres private and do alot of work to be part of it. I pay almost no money but do spend alot of time there working. I agree that many of the properties are managed poorly we kill 30+ does to keep buck to doe ratio correct so I'm with you. Dm me if you are interested in being part of our lease. It's very reasonable if you can spare a couple days in the summer to work also.
  11. Finally a thread where all the posts are positive!
  12. Early season for does when they are healthy and bucks haven't dropped antlers yet would be better in my opinion. Now you just have to be careful not to shoot your early shed bucks. Also the herd could potentially be stressed more later in season.
  13. My local guys are decent men. Helpful with our problems. No system is perfect but we are fortunate to have the deer numbers we do and the public land available that we have. Politics suck, politicians are scum, it doesn't matter which side they fall on.
  14. What leasing garbage do you mean? It's everyone's dream to have a lease they can control? It's like that all over the country? There is almost no public land in some states like Texas. I hunt 25,000 acres of public all within 1 hour of driving in my part of the state.
  15. Ny has very inflated prices. Also manufacturers don't prioritize our state because the state powers are difficult to do business with. PA. and Ohio have some more readily available and reasonably priced items as well. I love pawn shops for those exact reasons.
  16. I think cornell owns alot more than 37 acres. They also open alot of land to hunting. There system may not be perfect but it sure is better than posted private. I see lots of deer on thier land especially in early season and have found multiple sheds.
  17. I dont mean any disrespect, I grew up bouncing on my dads knee when Phil simms took the giants all the way. It was in my blood. Its the money thing too, I cant relate to the wealth squandered on unpatriotic bums. I also think its tough to give up sundays.... especially in the rut.
  18. Anyone reloading near me? 7hish I have my brass 30-06. I think I have an idea of what I want but also would take suggestions.
  19. F-football. Millionaires who cant stand for the pledge or the anthem while people starve. I wanna see food.... thats a stud.
  20. I think best move is to buy a little ammo all year. Right now hunting season, covid and a switch in the president has all the conspiracy weirdos buying ammo like crazy. I see guys buying ammo for guns they dont even own. My local gunshop has everything. He didn't raise his prices they were always a little higher than the box store to discourage this panic buying.
  21. Start with it Upwind in general. You want to be able to see your call and shoot to it.. movement is helpful also.. Its tough to get predators to come in any way except downwind of the call. They use their nose like a deer. Use landscape features to force them into openings across wind. Roads and water sometimes will get them to come crosswind. Good luck and let the deer gods be with you.
  22. Weird world. Hope these inconsistencies will change with the covid vaccine.
