  1. I’m sure all of those liberal elites teaching High School in deep red Edwards County, Illinois were dead set on brainwashing me into a socialist. Or maybe it was the Professors of Agriculture at SIU trying to indoctrinate me. Maybe I need a steady stream of Fox, OANN, or NewsMax to cleanse me of my leftist idealism. Maybe when I get old I’ll have time to watch cable news more.
  2. Wait, so I’m confused. When you get old, are the stupid poor people the cause of your problems, or do blame your problems on the government? Wait, maybe it’s the elites who have made smart decisions so that they can afford all of this stuff... There are just so many people to blame! Really though, this is really helpful stuff, I’m sure it will come in handy after I’ve lived long enough.
  3. You’re right, one of these days when I’m old, I’ll look back and think “I could’ve gotten so much more from my life if my parents and poor people like them would have just made “smart choices” like I did. My sunset years could be so much more fulfilling if only people who worked hard, but were not as smart as me just paid the price for their stupid decisions.” I stand by my assessment that you are out of touch with the real world, even though you are old enough to know better.
  4. You’re not even having the same conversation, so I don’t even have a response for you.
  5. Never mind, I’m to young to be arguing with all of the wise old men in the room I’m glad you guys have the world figured out!
  6. My father and my mother worked their asses off their whole lives to provide for me and my siblings. We never had much, but we had enough. They had way more than they had when they were growing up. If providing an option for people to get healthcare without going bankrupt is a step too far for you, then you are out of touch with what the real world looks like my friend. I’m sorry that you feel entitled to things that other people don’t have because you made the “right choices”, but I can guarantee you that my parents weren’t the product of “lousy choices”. If a country helping to provide the most basic of necessities (health care) for its citizens looks like socialism to you, then we live on totally different planets sir.
  7. Pyrodex RS. Sorry, I should have mentioned that.
  8. I’m sorry to hear that, it really sucks. It would be nice if the whole thing could get figured out for everyone. My mom does home health care for several older folks around home, and my dad spent his last working years working for a pallet factory that didn’t offer any benefits. He did work for a long time for a road crew, but had a trailer hitch dropped on his foot and couldn’t do the work anymore. That job did offer some benefits. Unfortunately, there wasn’t much else available for a 50 year old man with a High School education. Like I said, the ACA was a godsend for my family, but that does nothing to help yours. I’m truly sorry that it had that kind of an impact on yours.
  9. I loaded my caplock last Saturday morning and haven’t had the opportunity to fire it. Should I discharge and reload soon? I doubt I’ll be able to get back out until next week sometime.
  10. EXACTLY! Thanks for sharing this. This is exactly why I changed my political affiliation to Independent this year. I got tired of being drug into battles that I didn’t want to fight.
  11. From everything I have read about him, he is a kind, thoughtful and decent human being. He has flaws, which he admits to, and I have found that is an important thing for me to practice in my own life. As far as being a fruitful public servant, I can only speak to the things that I experienced while he was in office. When he and Obama took office, I was fresh out of undergrad. Even though I was fortunate enough to have a job in the recession, things really didn’t look good as far as getting a good start on my adult life. Because Joe Biden and Obama straitened out the economy somewhat, my economic situation has continued to improve. Shortly after my parents got insurance through the ACA, my dad had a series of mini strokes. He had to go through a ton of treatment that would have bankrupt my parents if they didn’t have insurance. Both of them worked jobs that didn’t offer insurance, and private insurance was not financially possible before the ACA. So, yes, at least some of what he has accomplished in his career has been fruitful for me and my family. He also has a history of bipartisan work and friendships that make me hopeful for an end to the angry division that is running rampant. He was great friends with John McCain, and even delivered his eulogy. Lindsey Graham said that “God never made a better man than Joe Biden”. There’s more that I’m reading that are further confirming what I already think of him. Again, I’m not trying to change anyone’s mind, but you asked what I like about him.
  12. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
  13. I’ve heard plenty of people say something to the effect of “He was a real nice 8” or “8 point”.
  14. I’m one who usually goes for the “er” terminology.
  15. I do. I finished reading “Promise Me Dad” and it made me like and respect him that much more. I’m just now reading another book about him “The Book of Joe” by Jeff Wilser, and again, I like him more the more I learn about his life and career. I’m not looking to change your mind, since I’m assuming you don’t like him, but saying “No one likes Biden” is an inaccurate generalization.
  16. I had never seen it before this year, but Minogues has a lot in stock.
  17. Anyone else love these movies? I used to pick them up as soon as they showed up on the Walmart shelf. Dumb humor at its finest, but funny all the same.
  18. I don’t think there’s another until the end of next month. They have really been limiting seating, giving priority to dealers and consistent customers, which is only fair. I’ve stopped in and left a few bids, but haven’t bought much over the past few months. As far and the impact, all I can say is that I had a realization that there is a whole industry that makes money off of scaring people and creating outrage. I just hope that we can all find a little peace and understanding with each other.
  19. I feel the same about you as far as being level headed. I know we’re on opposite sides of the Trump thing, but I’ve never seen you be anything but respectful and thoughtful, and I admire you for that. Listen, I understand how it feels. I bought into the 2016 Russia stuff after Trump won in 2016, because at the time I couldn’t believe a guy like him could be elected. I even gave $5 to Jill Stein for the recount push. It sucks, it’s hard to come to terms with. I also thought that 2016 was the end of America as I knew it as well. While Trump supporters were reveling in “Liberal Tears”, I clung to all of the talking points for quite a while. However, I eventually had to accept that he won, and he was President. I also got used to life with Trump as President, and for the most part until this election cycle, he factored very little into my everyday life. I just hope there is some resolution for everyone. I know I cannot provide that resolution. I will not find joy in Trump supporters’ disappointment however, and I hope that at some point we can all get past the divide that politics has driven between us. On a more immediate front, I hope you and your family have a great Holiday. Maybe we’ll be able to hit up the auction again sometime soon!
  20. I used to swap out my camo every couple of years, when the “next big thing” came along. However, when I saw my father in law consistently killing deer in his work carhartts and orange seed cap, I realized all I was probably buying was hype. I was thinking about it the other day while in stand, most of my stuff is over 10 years old, and still performs pretty well.
  21. I found this little gem at the local beverage center the other day. Rich, dark, a little smoky, and freaking delicious!
  22. Man, what a buck. Congratulations!
  23. I do stand corrected, when put in that context, I found the poll, thank you. My apologies to Grouse and Mr. Manning.
