You could also pick up a Gen 3 or 4 a little cheaper. The Gen 5 is nice though, biggest improvements are ambidextrous slide stop, flared mag well, little better trigger, front serrations on slide. I’m a big Glock guy, love them
With the relatively low velocity of the .38 they are both going to be fine. I like the Rainer plated bullets. You also have the coated bullet option. I shoot thousands of those in 9mm. Blue Bullet company.
120 Barnes TSX is a good bullet. I’ve been using a 140 accubond in my 7 mag and 7-08 for years with very good results on Bear, hogs, mule and whitetail deer, antelope, elk.
Both great, obviously same case capacity. 7mm-08 a little more versatile and more bullet selection. The right bullet will kill any black bear no problem too.
